Role Summary

The position of International Security Coordinator (ISC) is responsible for leading a team of security staff and ensuring the effective administration of the American Airlines International Security Program (ISP) for all AA flights at Manchester Airport. The ISC is tasked with ensuring the operational security and compliance of all AA operations in Manchester. The position requires strong leadership skills, an excellent understanding of the security program and the company, as well as the local issues, Manchester faces.

About The Job

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • To supervise the activities of AA-Security Staff or Security-Agents from a third party contractor both airside and non-airside
  • To be responsible for monitoring the performance of contracted security staff
  • To implement security procedures in line with the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), Department for Transport (DfT) and International Security Program (ISP) security requirements
  • To prepare and conduct agent briefings and daily assignments
  • To conduct training classes for new hires as well as regular training in accordance with TSA, DfT and ISP requirements.
  • To ensure baggage reconciliation is completed in accordance to TSA, DfT and ISP procedures
  • To ensure proper storage of equipment upon completion of the operation
  • To act as liaison officer with security contractors, airport security, law enforcement and compliance stakeholders
  • To be responsible for scrutinizing the invoiced hours of the contracted security staff is correct
  • To carry out administrative duties as well as statistical work for all security related matters
  • To be able to make decisions towards the daily operation but always under consideration of applicable regulations, procedures and policies
  • To be responsible for security in all non-airport locations AA uses in and around Manchester, such as flight crew hotel and sales offices
  • To liaise with TSA, local police and airport security on a regular basis
  • To take overall responsibility for all security aspects at the station

Person Specification

  • Must have at least 6 month experience in the American Airlines ISP or an equivalent security programme and successfully completed the LSA (Lead Security training course) and ISC classes and be fully qualified to date to perform the ISC position.
  • Must be Alternative Interview Method (AIM) screener certified or be able to successfully achieve and maintain AIM screener certification; AIM Instructor certification is desirable however not required.
  • Pass an annual certification session or attend a retraining session that will include a certification test
  • Strong interpersonal & organisation skills
  • Working knowledge of SABRE
  • Ability to perform within strict procedures and to learn new skills
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationship with local AA-staff and other departments
  • Ability to maintain professional relationship with contractors, passengers, airport authorities and police
  • Willingness to travel internationally for training, meetings and conferences
