Director, EMEA Competitive Intelligence – Database and Cloud Services at Oracle – UAE
Job Description:
- Deep and ongoing competitive research and analysis of competitors’ databases and cloud strategy, with focus on delivery of accurate, timely, unbiased and contextual analysis to sales, presales and consulting.
- Provide actionable competitive intelligence, sales tools, sales training, and consultative engagement to support the needs of the Field and Inside Sales (e.g. cheat sheets, whitepapers, rebuttals, slide sets, newsletter articles, etc.) with defensible analysis/proof points and positioning of Oracle products and solutions favourable against the competition.
- Ongoing tracking and analysis of key EMEA database competitors (including on-premises and cloud) and emerging competitive threats and trends.
- Develop, present and maintain regular sales trainings for EMEA regional field and inside sales organizations.
- Provide proactive and reactive competitive deal support to sales teams (some engagements may involve presenting to customers).
- Function as EMEA competitive expert to other Oracle organizations such as product management, product marketing and executives to provide insight relative to the competitive landscape, deep analysis of competitors (company, business and product level), and advise on win-loss trends, take-out programs, marketing campaigns etc.
- Work closely with peers in the Competitive Intelligence team who are experts in engineered systems, servers, storage, virtualization, middleware and applications, etc. to enhance solution competitive advantage for Oracle relative to other key competitors.
- Help to facilitate a single competitive community and single compete channel to market across EMEA. Educate stakeholders on key compete information/resources available.

Job Requirements:
Education:
- BA/BS degree in business, technology or research is a minimum requirement. Master’s degree is preferred but demonstrated experience can be substituted.
Relevant Experience:
- 5+ years of recognized competitive analysis skills focused in the general areas of database (e.g. cloud, NoSQL, RDBMS and Data Warehouse) and/or database cloud products (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Amazon Aurora/Redshift//RDS, SAP HANA, IBM and PostgreSQL etc). including understanding of customer needs and business goals.
Technical Knowledge/ Skills/ Training required:
- Prior relevant experience in competitive intelligence/analysis will receive strongest consideration.
- Previous database or cloud product sales, industry analyst, product management or product marketing experience strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of the Database and Cloud Services competitive landscape is required.
- Ability to analyse database & data warehousing products to a relatively deep technical level such that analysis is useful in the sales, pre-sales and consulting sales cycle.
- Ability to provide market level or strategic level analysis for senior executives is also important as this role may occasionally require presentation to senior management.
- Ability to prioritise multiple simultaneous projects/deliverables to successful completion (i.e. in a quality and timely manner) is a key requirement.
- Strong interpersonal skills / excellent writing and analysis skills / strong verbal communication.
- Analytical and a strategic thinker / energetic and enthusiastic / self-starter and team player.
- Proven ability to work with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing and present to Executives.
- Deep insight into real-world customer issues, either through previous experience implementing or planning real-world customer data centre solutions (from either the vendor or customer side), as an industry analyst, or by presenting solutions at customer briefings, a strong plus.
