  • ​This job is a member of the Pilot Career and Development Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for the day-to-day operations of interviewing and hiring of our newly selected pilots. This job works closely with our 3 wholly owned regionals to coordinate the transition of employment of our pilots that come to American Airlines via our flow agreements.

What you'll do

  • ​Manage the interviewing and selection process for new hire pilots for AA
  • Collaborate with the People Department to ensure compliance
  • Manage the performance of the Pilot Selection staff
  • Continuously improve the selection process through benchmarking with industry leading companies
  • Develop key metrics to measure the effectiveness of the selection process
  • Track results and efforts and identify best practices for hiring and retention
  • Communicate effectively to influence hiring processes
  • Reviews PRIA (Pilot Records Improvement Act) and ensures compliance
  • Monitor and analyze costs and prepare budget for pilot hiring. Prepare reports and present department activities for senior leadership
  • Play a key role in Flight Department Diversity initiatives by actively seeking female and minority candidates to present

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 1 year experience in management and recruiting

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in HR recruiting

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of existing and proposed legal requirements governing employment practices 
  • Ability to give direction, resolve problems, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Sound judgment and decision making ability
  • Insightful, forward thinker
  • Ability to understand and apply federal, state and local changes to and/or new regulations/laws pertaining to hiring
