About The Job

This job is a member of the Crew Scheduling team within the Integrated Operations Division. This position will be responsible for the production of trip construction and the awarding of flight schedules for all American Airlines pilots and Flight Attendants.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Ensures that the Preferential Bidding System (PBS) settings are within the guidelines of the contract, MOU and other governing authorities
  • Responsible for the publication of Pilot/Flight attendant schedules in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Pilot/Flight Attendant Working Agreements and company policy
  • Maintains rapport with pilot and flight attendant groups by examining individual schedule complaints and providing justifications of the schedule awarded and system logic
  • Coordinates with a variety of departments to increase the efficiency of trip pairings, reduce crew costs and improve the operational reliability of crew pairings
  • Coordinates with Crew Manpower Planning to ensure the all operations needs are met with the award of flight schedules and daily crew member availability
  • Analyzes future schedules and provides feedback on how to improve schedules to increase crew member satisfaction and the efficiency of crew pairings

  • Collaborates with the vendor and Pilot/Flight Attendant unions to continuously develop, test, and improve current logic for the bidding systems
  • Creates and modifies macros to validate new logic, analyzes crew member schedules, and provides reports to union and business
  • Creates what-if scenarios to evaluate the impact of future business changes
  • Compiles, coordinates and posts monthly pilot and flight attendant bid packets
  • Must be willing to work varied hours including weekends and holidays to meet all departmental, contractual and FAR requirements

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience or education

• Experience and knowledge of Preferential Bidding System (PBS), including knowledge of processes, systems, and terminology used in scheduling flight Crews

• Crew scheduling or Flight Operations experience

• Ability to work under pressure, perform independently and work well with other members of the team

• Demonstrated abstract reasoning and critical thinking skills, ability to effectively analyze detailed information, must enjoy solving complex puzzles

• Must be computer literate, proficient in desktop computer skills and capable of learning new systems

• Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills

• Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success

• Complete projects on time with minimal supervision, ability to work varied hours when necessary to meet deadlines

• Knowledge of Flight Crew Federal Aviation Regulation and Crew Working Agreement
