Bus Assistant | Deira International School | Dubai
About the role
To assist with the safe transportation of students to and from the school, provide help to the school bus driver, secure passengers in their seats and assist all students boarding and leaving the school bus
Key responsibilities
- Undertake responsibility to help students on and off the bus before and after trips, guide younger students into the school building
- Lift and carry students with disabilities on and off the bus according to their individual needs
- Ensure that the younger students on early afternoon trips home are handed to parents/guardians/caregivers at the drop off points
- Undertake daily inspection of the school bus interior for student belongings or lost items after student drop-offs (both mornings and evenings)
- Pick up litter and ensure that the bus floor is swept clean each morning before the school trips
- Undertaking responsibility to follow bus timings (both mornings and evenings) and trip schedules set by the transport supervisor and/or transport coordinator
- Undertake a proactive and responsible stance to maintain order on the school bus during trips and report any student misconduct to the transport supervisor
- Ensuring that students remain seated always during transportation and wear seat belts and comply to the set safety protocols
- Report for bus incidences
- Update knowledge and skills by attending Inhouse Orientation and Training
About the Person
Education: High School
Minimum Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 1 year of assisting students during the school bus travel (desired)
Job-specific skills
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively
• Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities
• Emotional control under stress
