About the Role
We are currently looking for a Biomedical Engineer that will design, develop & maintain life-support devices and other medical equipment that can assist health care professionals in improving the quality of patient care. The Biomedical Engineer responsibility is to ensure that all patient care and medical equipment is operating to institutional, national and manufacturer specifications. This involves problem resolution; preventive maintenance; calibration and repair of all medical devices and equipment; training and development and maintaining all documentation as it relates to repairs.
About the Responsibility
• Advisor to Management on latest clinic equipment and technologies.
• Accountable to ensure that all patient care and medical equipment in operating rooms, intensive care, clinical labs, including therapeutic and diagnostic clinics are operating as per institutional, national and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance to medical care equipment in a safe, self-directed and timely manner.
• Preceptor to physicians, nurses and technical staff concerning operation of medical equipment on a formal and informal basis, including technical support during surgeries and medical procedures.
• Work with engineers and researchers to design and fabricate specialized devices for use in the clinical and research settings.
• Responsible to negotiate with vendors on clinical equipment after preparing BOQ, & RFP.
• Custodian of all documentation and maintain records pertaining to all repairs, replacement parts, calibrations and modifications of medical equipment.
• Identify aging and obsolete patient care equipment & provide supporting documentation for the assessment, justification and purchase of new devices.
• Using computer software and mathematical models to design, develop and test new materials, devices and equipment.
• Liaising with technicians and manufacturers to ensure the feasibility of a product in terms of design and economic viability.
• Liaison with other medical professionals such as doctors and therapists as well as with end-users through research to solve clinical problems using questionnaires, interviews etc.
• Solving problems pertain to medical equipment with Manufacturer, Quality, Finance & Procurement departments.
• Supervise the clinical trials of medical products under the direction of Medical Director.
• Resolve technical queries from Doctors and Technical Staff & Training on new equipment
• Responsible to investigate all safety-related incidents in the clinics.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering preferably MS in Biomedical, Electrical, Electronics.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years experience in a similar role.
Job-Specific Skills:
• Programming electronic devices, Building and evaluating prototypes, Troubleshooting problems & rethinking the design until it works correctly.
• Synthesizing information to conduct research and develop new instruments, equipment and systems.
