Job Title: Tax Manager – Retail Division
Division: Retail
Role purpose & context:
The Tax Manager will assist the Group Tax Team in managing tax compliance (direct and indirect tax), executing tax projects, planning, and tax risk management for the Retail Division of the Al-Futtaim Group.
This position is responsible for executing the Group Tax strategy within all markets where the Retail Division operates. It includes managing the Tax Operating Model which involves working with tax community members and taking ownership of tax compliance, tax planning, transfer pricing, tax accounting, and tax documentation.
The successful candidate will work closely with Group Tax along with Finance Teams, Retail Brands, third party service providers, and other tax professionals in carrying out responsibilities.
Role Tasks/Accountabilities;
- Manage the implementation of the Group Tax strategy and initiatives from a planning, compliance and risk management perspective
- Review the annual tax filings for Retail Division Including Zakat, CIT, WHT etc prior to submission to the local governing authorities
- Advice Businesses on VAT matters, review VAT procedures and business processes in line with the VAT Law to ensure VAT compliance, ensure effective VAT Controls are in place and review VAT Returns prior to filing. Ensure correct and timely filing of all Tax Returns based on country specific tax calendars and review complex income Tax Returns
- Identify tax planning opportunities within the limits of tax risk management
- Manage the tax provision process and supervise tax balances on general ledger
- Ensure all documents are collected on a central database and handle requests for information
- Provide support during tax audits in collaboration with Group Tax
- Ensuring that the Business adheres to the Transfer Pricing Regulations and internal transfer pricing Policies in all geographies where the Retail Division operates and ensure proper transfer pricing documentation is maintained.
- Conduct relevant workshops / training throughout the year to keep business up to date on compliance regulations
- Streamline processes through automation
- To liaise with relevant managers and stakeholders to ensure full collaboration and understanding on critical topics.
- Contribute to the improvement of the solutions and business processes.
- Maintains and upgrades professional knowledge, management skills and domain expertise by using continuous learning & development tools.
- Contribution to business excellence initiatives

Experience & Qualifications
- Tax, Finance or Accounting certified
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Regional tax knowledge would be a plus
- 8-10 years in an international tax environment
- Big 4 Accounting Firm experience required
