The Workforce Planning team is part of the Customer Planning and Analysis organization which provides analytical support to airport operations. Our team works directly with operations leadership & various other departments to ensure the airports are provided with the passenger service and ramp headcount required to achieve our performance goals.
The Workforce Planning team is the analytical engine that powers workforce decisions for our airport teams. This highly analytical position leads a diverse team of analysts specializing in manpower modelling, data collection, and financial forecasting. The Sr. Manager position is unique in that a successful candidate must understand complex model building while overseeing the financial headcount forecast that represents $1.8 billion of costs for American Airlines.
The ideal candidate has the following:
- Solid understanding of the financial forecasting process and ability to translate customer needs into financial justifications
- Experience working with cross departmental teams including international, cargo, premium guest services, etc.
- Proven experience in translating data & analysis into representative models
- Experience with leading and developing talented people leaders & those in their span of care
What you'll do
- Work closely with finance teams to both promote customer planning/operations initiatives & ensure accurate financial forecasts for customer experience division
- Understand tools/methods used by Industrial Engineers and be able to apply them toward completion of airport headcount models
- Prioritize highly dynamic and frequently changing team responsibilities & deliverables
- Work collaboratively with other operational, airport, and customer planning groups to understand their staffing needs and constraints
- Work with partner organizations at American & the industry to be the strategic voice for resource planning
- Analyze staffing impact of strategic initiatives; make recommendations and present results to senior management
- Identify process improvements to drive staffing efficiencies and/or operational improvements
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Aviation, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience/training
- 5 years of experience in airline operations, finance, network planning, revenue management, or related airline field
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 7 years of experience in airline operations, finance, network planning, revenue management or related airline field
- Experience in a leadership role within the airport
- Masters for Business Administration or other advanced certification
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to lead a large team of independent analysts toward a common goal
- Knowledge of airport processes and credible experience on how these processes impact workforce decisions and needs
- Ability to build strong relationships with airport leaders and leverage trust/shared vision to accomplish joint goals
- Knowledge of financial tools/processes and ability to understand impact of staffing decisions
