Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **POSITION INFORMATION** Role Summary The Project Manager II (PM II) - Analytics is a part of the Commercial Analytics Organization and is the subject matter expert in project management. The PM II is responsible for defining the objectives, scope, project deliverables, developing project plans, charters, and schedules that support customer needs at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. Scope & Complexity As an individual contributor, this role supports commercial analytics as the project manager. This person exercises considerable judgment and makes decisions relating to managing large and/or complex projects. Key Duties - Acts as a subject matter expert in project management. - With minimal direction from leadership, manages large and/or complex programs and projects in accordance with established processes and procedures. - Makes recommendations to customers to define the objectives, scope, and project deliverables. - Develops project plans, charters, and schedules that support customer needs. - Monitors project schedule, cost, and progress to ensure projects are completed on time and fulfill the objectives of the project charter. - Communicates program and project status to participants and stakeholders in writing as well as through formal presentations. - Negotiates with organizational management to obtain required project resources. - Ensures that all program and project documentation is completed accurately and on time. - Monitors costs and provides reporting progress to ensure projects are within budget. - Manages programs and projects to design, develop, and implement new systems and process improvements. - Leads teams in project execution and ensures the project follows established company project management methodologies and standards. - Organizes meetings with various work teams to collect and disseminate project information, plan and schedule tasks and resources, generate timelines, and structure a process for consensus and individual commitment for deliverables. - Works effectively with internal and external groups to ensure successful completion of programs and projects. - Identify opportunities to expedite project delivery, reduce cost, and/or enhance business results. - Identifies and communicates unresolved problems or possible timeline issues along with recommended actions for correction. - Supports with department wide project intake and project prioritization continuous improvement. - Writes business cases and divisional attachments. - Tracks project issues and risks. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - A minimum of 4 years as a project manager or equivalent leadership experience. - Bachelor's degree in business, math, economics, engineering or other related discipline, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Experience with full lifecycle project management, including all elements of scope, schedule, budgeting, risk evaluation, quality, integration, staffing, and communications. - Experience working with customers to define tasks and integrate business processes and technology into effective business solutions. - Experience facilitating the creation of project metrics and establishing a method for tracking. - Experience managing multiple mid-sized projects. - Experience implementing projects involving process improvement principles. - Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology groups. - Knowledge of program and project management principles, practices, and tools. - Ability to manage multiple objectives/tasks. - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. - Ability to identify problems and collaboratively develop alternatives for resolution. - Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies and adapt to changes and demands. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Project management certification. - Knowledge of people change management and organizational change. - Understanding of the capital budgeting process and basic financial principles. - Experience as a team member on an internally-developed IT and vendor based development projects.
