This job is a member of the Fuel and Energy Management Team within the Treasury Division. The Analyst is responsible for executing fuel supply strategy for pipeline and cargo, optimizing inventories within operational constraints and minimizing fuel expense through strategic use of inventory, exchanges, and pipeline assets in the American Airlines network.
- Manage fuel inventory required for bulk pipeline, marine vessel, and trucking supply chains and volumes, relating to approximately 70% of all fuel consumed by American Airlines globally
- Maintain a close working relationship with airport operators through management of inventory levels, fuel sales and purchases both on and off airport
- Coordinate bulk pipeline delivery schedule with external counter parties and understand pipeline allocation, storage, and off-airport supply constraints
- Engage with cross-functional groups (Fuel Operations, Fuel Supply, Accounting, and Legal) to ensure suppliers meet American's expectations from a quality, quantity and pricing perspective
- Collect and analyze pipeline and airport consumption data from various information systems to adequately fulfill the fuel forecast and prevent fuel outages
- Lead efforts to develop, coordinate and optimize fuel strategy for self-supply stations based on forecast data and fuel supply constraints
- Identify issues to mitigate jet fuel quality/control issues, and create effective crisis management plans for potential delays or failures
- Communicate with external counterparties to coordinate inventory deliveries to align with American consumption and storage constraints
- Develop strategies to strengthen the supply chain by minimizing issues and creating cost-saving opportunities
- Understand tariffs, transmix, and other transportation related costs for all self-supply locations
- Recognize opportunities to store fuel and take advantage of seasonal opportunities, sell inventory at self-supply stations and identify opportunities to sell line space or arrange exchanges to minize costs
- Validate bulk purchase invoices with MarketView and process payment via AA's Fuel Accounting team
- Creates and implements efficiencies to review and cross-check various data sources

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Finance or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Planning or related environment
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Direct experience scheduling pipelines
- Experience and knowledge of fuel supply chains, specifically common carrier and sole proprietary pipelines, along with port and marine vessel deliveries

- Excellent research skills and problem-solving abilities to effectively analyze detailed information

- Strong organization and planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, while being able to adapt to change
- Proficient in Excel, along with skilled ability in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization as well as external contacts
