This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. The Manager, IT Operations Communications is responsible for global support of operational radio infrastructure and evolution of processes and procedures to interface with the AA network.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
- Leads and manages Radio Operations direct reports
- Establishes policy and service objectives for company radio services
- Represents American Airlines in industry forums and acts as liaison with external organizations
- Oversees acquisitions of licensing and infrastructure to ensure compliance with Company standards, local, state, federal and international government regulations
- Develops and manages service level agreements with service providers and evaluates day to day impact on agreements
- Manages the department budget
- Authorizes and manages acquisition, spending and invoice processing
- Performs other duties as required
- Domestic & International travel as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent military or Part 121 air carrier’s operations experience
- 3 years of Project Management experience
- Extensive knowledge of voice, data, radio, IP networking, and console system architecture and design
- Proven ability to build, cultivate, and promote strong relationships with internal customers at all levels of the organization, as well as with IT counterparts, business partners, and external groups
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of air to ground and land mobile radio communication networks
- Strong Analytical skills
- Excellent facilitation and formal presentation skills
- Ability to perform simultaneous complex tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever- changing work environment
- Ability to make strategic and operational decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- Project Management Certification
- 3+ years of experience in a managerial position with demonstrated leadership abilities
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
- Ability to effectively explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience
- Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
