Taking on each day knowing we're part of something remarkable. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary Horizon Air is seeking a talented and experienced ground instructor. This role is responsible for creating pilot training content and subsequently trains pilots on aircraft systems, company policy, and FAA requirements. Scope & Complexity This individual contributor role provides direct instruction to upgrade qualification and continuing qualification pilots in Embraer E175 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft systems and policies of Horizon Air in association with various aircraft systems handbooks, FAA guidelines, and Horizon Air Advanced Qualification Program specifications. Key Duties: - Instructs Pilot Indoctrination, Qualification, and Continuing Qualification ground training instruction for Horizon Air pilots using approved training program policy, procedures and regulatory requirements - Aircraft related courseware topics include but are not limited to: System operation including related normal, abnormal and emergency procedures, Aircraft Limitations, and Aircraft Performance. Ground training topics include but are not limited to: General Flight Operations Manual policies and procedures; Aviation Security; Dangerous Goods; Meteorology; Flight Physiology; Emergency Equipment to include hands on operation; and Electronic Flight Bag procedures - Evaluates student progress against policies and curriculum to ensure qualification to proceed in training. - Authors, edits, coordinates, and publishes ground and flight training materials and courseware - Provides input to other Flight Operations departments and coordinates as required for developing and delivering flight and ground training courseware - Develops and maintain both instructor-led and computer-based aircraft related ground training courseware, lesson plans, instructor guides and related training materials for the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and Embraer 175 aircraft in accordance with training policies, procedures and regulatory guidance - Coordinates with appropriate internal and external stakeholders as required to ensure the technical accuracy of training content and that it reflects the latest policy and procedural guidance Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Aviation or related field; without degree with 2 additional years of instructional experience - 3 years previous flight and/or ground instruction experience - Basic knowledge and understanding of Air Traffic Control procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, the Aeronautical Information Manual, meteorology and other aviation related subjects - Knowledge of Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts - General knowledge of commercial aircraft systems - Familiarity with theories of learning and teaching methods - Demonstrated computer skills utilizing word processing, presentation, and graphic software - Demonstrated writing and editing skills to develop training documents and manuals - Demonstrated classroom communications and instructing ability - Demonstrated ability to apply the most appropriate teaching methods to fit the situation - Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member for group projects - High school diploma or equivalent - Minimum Age of 18 - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Previous experience with formal instructional systems design - Previous experience with learning management systems - Previous Q400 or E175 pilot and instructor experience Job-Specific Leadership Expectations Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be remarkable. **PAY** The salary range for this position is $56,500 - $87,400 **START YOUR NEW JOURNEY NOW** This position is located in Portland, OR with the expectation of a permanent move to Seattle in late 2020.
