The role will support the GM Legal in providing legal advice to key stakeholders in the procurement function on procurement strategy and day to day procurement activity. The role will also be involved in providing general legal advice to the group’s retail, automotive, engineering, healthcare and other divisions across MENA on commercial contracts and other commercial matters.

 

- Description of responsibilities

Contracts

  • Draft, negotiate and/or review commercial contracts in connection with the activity of the Group’s central procurement team, including NDAs, MOUs/Heads of Terms, RFPs, service agreements, purchase agreements, outsourcing agreements and technology agreements.
  • Update current contract templates and develop new templates.
  • Aid in contract drafting and negotiations undertaken by the procurement team
  • Oversee legal and contractual matters related to current and future contracts
  • Provide advice on tenders, claims, extensions of time, variations, entitlements etc.
  • Negotiation of operations and maintenance agreements
  • Support in managing the relationship and negotiation between the organisation and third parties/stakeholders commercial relevance of contracts that have high impact on business
  • Smooth and efficient procurement transactions
  • Quality of relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Compliance

  • Give expert advice on Group policy and procedures
  • Ensure transaction terms comply with Group policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and develop procurement related policies and procedures.
  • Give expert advice on procurement policies and procedures
  • Quality of legal advice
  • Stakeholder feedback
  • Availability of up to date, efficient and relevant policies and procedures

Team development

  • Identify legal training needs and requirements, particularly related to contract matters, and assisting in the development and delivery of training
  • Development pathways of team members
  • Assist with general commercial matters as needed
  • Provide effective legal advisory services and continuous support on any arising issues that may impact the day-to-day operations
  • Stakeholder feedback

 

- Candidate Requirements

Education:

The successful candidate must have appropriate legal qualifications, ideally gained in a common law country.

Minimum Experience and Knowledge: 

  • 3-7 years plus post-qualification experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Regional experience, though not essential, would be an advantage.

Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deal with a broad range of matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport at all levels of the business.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to confidently deal with diverse situations, people and requirements.
