About The Job

The successful candidate will join a team responsible for developing the next generation LookAhead product suite. The LookAhead product suite is used by American Airline’s Airport Operations and Integrated Operations organizations to manage flight operations through the use of sophisticated optimization algorithms and modeling techniques.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following

  • Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand needs and develop solutions according to business requirements
  • Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven development
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
  • Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates
  • Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
  • Supports the development of coding standards and adhere to best practices and security guidelines
  • Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs
Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience, using Agile, XP, or similar methodologies
  • Experience designing and documenting domain models, sequence diagrams, user stories or use case diagrams, and identifying and documenting business requirements and processes
  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies: Java, SQL, JDBC, HTML, XML, Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Source Control tools: Git, SVN or CVS
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to work effectively with users, business unit partners, developers, testers, technical architects, project managers, and management
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, customer service and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels within the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience, using Agile, XP, or similar methodologies
  • Experience with Business Driven Development (BDD)
  • Strong working knowledge of either Oracle DBMS and/or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with JavaScript and Angular JS
  • Experience with at least one of the following app servers: Apache Tomcat, Pivotal tc Server, IBM WebSphere Application Server
  • Experience with Jenkins, CloudBees, or similar build chain tools
  • Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD and build configuration
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or IBM Cloud•    Experience writing user guides and documentation
  • Knowledge of software design patterns 
  • Airline Industry Experience
