  • ​This job is a member of the Compliance Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for conducting in-depth investigations to evaluate system deficiencies as related to AA's Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) and the CFR to provide support of quality and compliance of the airline. Investigations will focus on aircraft maintenance errors and events to identify opportunities to correct operational risk.
  • The investigation process will consist of, but is not limited to, interviewing employees, researching procedures, communicating with subject matter experts and coordinating with the appropriate departments to identify root cause(s) and develop effective corrective action(s). The information gathered from the investigations will be communicated to manage risk. For investigations which are associated with FAA correspondence, the Compliance Specialist will be responsible for writing the correspondence for the company and communicating with the FAA CMO.
What you'll do
  • Completes investigations/assignments timely and accurately
  • Provides maintenance safety and compliance support for operations
  • Manages visits from regulatory agencies
  • Identifies and communicate the impact of human factors
  • Risk assess events associated with correspondence
  • Assists in developing corrective actions for aircraft maintenance quality and regulatory compliance
  • Collects, analyzes and distributes compliance and quality performance information
  • Builds relationships and coordinates cross-functionally at all AA maintenance operations locations
  • Serves as consultant or advocate on specialized compliance and other programs or projects
  • Develops, encourages and insists upon a culture of safety, compliance and client satisfaction
  • Supports team members when appropriate
  • Writes, creates and presents plans and presentations that are intelligent, focused and persuasive
  • Researches within company systems (SAFE, ASOM, Manuals, etc.)
  • Must work various shifts including weekends, holidays and days off as necessary
  • Travel is required

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/technical related field or Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) license
  • 5 years of Maintenance Operations or compliance equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Union workforce experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of CFR and AA's CAMP
  • In-depth familiarity with various functional areas within the Tech Ops organization
  • Airline and aircraft maintenance technical knowledge
  • Working knowledge of AA Tech Ops policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of FAA and other applicable regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance, repair and engineering
  • Knowledge of the impact of human factors in aircraft maintenance
  • Working knowledge of applicable CFR’s and regulatory guidance
  • Work cross-departmentally to resolve issues and develop lasting effective solutions
  • Must fulfill a criminal background check to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
