Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Software Development Engineer is responsible for developing solutions to complex software challenges on the Airport Customer Experience team at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor in an Agile environment, this role makes recommendations to create and improve innovative software used by associates and guests of Alaska Airlines. Scope & Complexity The Software Development Engineer creates and supports complex software solutions on the Airport Customer Experience Team. Key Duties - Works with a product owner, scrum master, and other developers to deliver business value every sprint. - Designs and implements a sophisticated platform that will help us serve our guests in innovative new ways. - Delivers high-quality software by writing clean code. Participates in pair programming when needed, test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, and quality code reviews. - Actively engages in the technology industry and seeks to understand how to apply evolving technologies to benefit our organization. - Other duties as assigned, including rotating on-call support. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - 2 years of experience in software engineering, or a related area. - Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or two additional years of experience/training in lieu of this degree. - 2 years of experience in the following areas: - Azure: ARM Template Creation CI/CD and pipeline maintenance. - C#: MVC 3 and greater and API development experience, .NET Core 2.1 or greater. - VB6: Able to assist with legacy tools when needed. - Experience with test driven development and unit testing. - Experience following best practices (e.g., TDD, OOP, SOA, design patterns - MVC, MVP, etc.). - Experience building integrated software systems via APIs or messaging technologies. - Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate with a variety of team members. - Ability to provide on-call support. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Expertise working with .NET (C#) and/or Java technologies. - Experience in Agile/Lean development methodologies. - Experience with CI/CD - Experience or existing knowledge of the Airline Industry.
