Job Title:                                         Landscape Design Manager

Reports to:                                     Senior Design Manager

Department:                                  Development & Design (Residential / Commercial / Hospitality)

Location:                                         AFGRE Offices, Cairo, Egypt

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Manage the Landscape/Urban design process through different project stages to ensure compliance of project designs with time, cost and quality requirements; and proper achievement of the project vision.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage the landscape design process and qualify, appoint and direct Project Manager (where applicable), Project Engineer and different consultants through the Pre-Concept, Concept, Scheme and Detailed Design stages including full design of every part and component of the project by collaboration of all concerned parties;
  • Follows up his/her projects within construction phase and gives all technical support to construction team.
  • Interface with different stakeholders and consultants to obtain their requirements and ensure the timely communication of project information, materials and relevant data to different parties
  • Advise on the general approach to the urban layout, public realm designs and construction; and provide necessary documents to obtain required statutory approvals (if applicable)
  • Prepare / oversee the preparation of landscape design briefs, studies of user requirements, technical aspects, site conditions, planning, design and building in use etc. as necessary; and give appraisals and recommendations
  • Verifies that all Landscape works, drawings and documents (comprising reports, bill of quantities and specifications), are to current codes and standards and in accordance with Al-Futtaim policies and standards. 

 

JOB CONTEXT:

  • Obtain stakeholders approvals on different landscape design stages and confirm cost and program compliance with investment case and to present designs;
  • Oversee the preparation of, review and approve Tender Documents including drawings specifications, BOQs and any relevant production information in sufficient detail; hold pre-tender briefing for potential contractors to ensure they have a good project understanding; and obtain As-Built drawings following the practical completion of the project;
  • Interface with Operations team to obtain their input on the designs and required soft and hardscape elements, Operations Design input and develop Operational / Maintenance Strategy;
  • Interface with the Commercial Management team to procure different services; manage RFPs under the direct reporter instructions; prepare tender documentation; manage cost engineering; negotiate contracts; approve and apply payments; and provide services and reports including change management; contract administration advice, and settle final consultants accounts to ensure transparency and adherence to AFGRE policies and procedures through different project stages;
  • Provide the Marketing team with landscape project information and graphic materials to develop and implement Marketing Strategy;
  • Interface with the Sales and Leasing team to obtain Market Study and feedback and reflect the outputs on the landscape project designs;
  • Follow up and provide the Tenant Coordination team with necessary information to develop Project Handbook, Design Manuals and Fitout Guides;
  • Report on development and monitor the unit performance against the vision and KPIs for the project

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: 

Bachelor of Science degree in landscape design and member of professional body/bodies in Egypt and/or elsewhere.  Master or PHD degree in Landscaping design (is preferable)

 

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in landscape design with at least 4 years in landscape Design Management position preferred at Development or project management firm or reputable consultancy firm

 

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Arabic and English proficiency is a must
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Landscape design standards, regulatory codes and related laws.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and related software, including CAD, REVIT & Photoshop tools, Sketch up and Word Processing Software.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of modern and complex principles and practices of Landscape Design in order to design and design review.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of other disciplines works in order to design and review his/her Landscape projects in coordination with them.
  • Excellent analytical, and creative problem-solving skills
