About the Role

This role is required to ensure the best quality of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) coordination, specialist support services within Al-Futtaim Group by providing technical guidance on legal compliance, safe work practices, risk assessment and OHS management systems in a competent manner to maintain all group OHS aspects

 

Health and Safety Management System

Administration of Occupational Health and Safety Management System and act as the specialist in developing checklists, guidelines and work flows in accordance with applicable OHS standards and best practices

 

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

Act as specialist to ensure compliance with local government (e.g. Civil Defence, Municipalities, etc.) international laws and regulations and other recognised health and safety standards, systems and codes of practice.

 

Service Level Agreements (SLA)

Act as specialist to develop and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLA) between Group and Businesses in matters related to compliance

 

Initiatives and Project Management

Act as specialist to influence management in the identification and development of improvement strategies and accident prevention methods through implementation of different projects

 

Audits, Inspections and Incident Investigations

Conducts inspections, incident investigations, as required, of business facilities, in order to identify hazards, determine root causes and advise / recommend corrective, preventive measures to enhance the level of OHS and ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.

 

Emergency Management

Provide specialist technical advice on emergency response personnel, teams on duties and responsibilities

Act as specialist in the design, development, implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans

 

Technical HSE Advise and Support

Conduct, deliver OHS awareness trainings, provide specialist advise and be conversant with industry best practices

Act as specialist in providing OHS standards, risk assessment methodologies & management systems to mitigate OHS risks

 

Collaboration and Communication

Coordinate with Al-Futtaim Group HSSE Committee for the meetings to discuss developments, initiatives, projects and regarding OHS

Coordinate communications, news and updates

 

Government Relations

Directly coordinate as company PRO, with local authorities, federal authorities, other relevant external stakeholders to ensure business compliance, avoid fines / penalties and be constantly updated with the requirements

 

 

About the Requirements

Education:

Diploma in Engineering / Safety - equivalent or higher

NEBOSH International General Certificate / IOSH Managing Safely – equivalent or higher

 

Minimum Experience and Knowledge: 

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Health & Safety, Occupational Health / Industrial Hygiene field

Knowledge of occupational health & safety, management systems design and implementation; audits, emergency management, project process management, international OHS standards and general knowledge of legal aspects in relation to Health and Safety

Ability to execute the primary functions of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
 
Job-Specific Skills:

• Ability to speak, read and write in English, knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage;
• Analyse and evaluate issues and provide sound advice / recommendations;
• Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, superiors and those contacted in the course of work.
• Above average computer skills (Microsoft Office applications) and ability to develop documentations, technical reports, presentations in an efficient and accurate manner;
• Must be self-driven, resourceful and uses all possible information / knowledge bases in order to be fully updated on the local (mandatory) requirements, laws / regulations and continuously work towards the improvement of the OHS standards throughout Al-Futtaim Group
