- This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.
- This position will be responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the Agile process, while fostering an environment conducive to innovation and career development.
- The successful candidate will lead, develop, and mentor his/her team of individuals with a diverse range of skills and experiences.
- Responsible for ongoing analytics efforts, leveraging data to promote progressive ways of thinking, and facilitating alignment of the business intelligence and analytics function to broader business evolution.
- Identify functional requirements for Operation Technology Applications and develop close working relationships with business stakeholders.
- Complete activities related to reporting and data quality, including drafting process and methodology.
- Define business requirements and shape the long term direction of the BI/Analytics program by working closely with team and business stakeholders.
- Design, develop and review the integration of analytics solutions with applications by collaborating with application architects.
- Coordinate with analytics talent pool outside of the BI/Analytics team, and facilitate cross-training and innovation.
- Collaborate with Application Architect and Data Architect to introduce and integrate analytics/data tools into the organization.
- Develop appropriate technical ability within the analytics team.
- Participate in the organization wide analytics initiative as needed.
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, business administration, computer science, or related field
- 3 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or Cognos
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- IBM Cognos BI Tools (Framework Manager, ReportStudio, Transformer, Analysis Studio, and Powerplay Studio).
- Tableau/Power BI or similar tools - Reporting, dashbording, scorecard, business intelligence and analytics
- Developing, promoting and enforcing analytics standards and quality in the business intelligence and analytics program.
- Database concepts (Teradata, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server )
- Service based integration concepts – Web services / Web forms
- Data Visualization & Streaming analytics
- BigData platform and tools
- Cloud based solutioning – Azure preferred
- Ability to liaise between Business and IT leadership
- Project Management process and methodologies (Agile Process and Rally).
- Promoting Self Service BI across organizations
- Airline experience
