Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router performs aircraft fleet operational routing and maintenance planning in support of a safe working-environment and to ensure the flight and maintenance operations are coordinated with the Operating Divisions, Maintenance & Engineering, and other Alaska organizations. This role also supports the development of analytical processes, data modeling, and reporting tools for use in aircraft routing and maintenance planning operations. Scope & Complexity This individual contributor position relies on a naturally curious candidate possessing strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills to contribute to the goals of Alaska Air Group. Key Duties - Plans, schedules, and decides work priorities encompassing all areas of aircraft maintenance: maintenance inspections, time-unit changes, deferred items, engineering controls (EC), task cards, special inspections, periodic checks, modifications, special projects, and the repair/correction of items affecting the airworthiness of the aircraft. - Minimizes aircraft downtime and maximizes schedule reliability by planning system-wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in the operation. - Analyzes aircraft change requests. - Plans ground time for extended maintenance actions. - Plans labor hour workloads and balances facility capacity and capability. - Coordinates maintenance activities with operational groups in response to routing, scheduling, or planning revisions. - Maintains the strict standards of safety and compliance: this position has the responsibility, authority, and decision-rights to stop the operation (ground aircraft) for any safety or compliance related issue. - Acts as final authority on operational aircraft swaps and recovers routing to maintain optimal system performance. - Facilitates the urgent completion of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Fleet Campaign Directives, and Engineering Orders. - Leads daily conference calls--coordinating with Maintenance Control, Materials/AOG desk, Line Managers, Inspection. - Analyzes flight schedule, aircraft utilization, and maintenance requirements to allocate labor resources and optimize reliability and performance. - Supports line maintenance operations by establishing task specific priorities, allocation of hangar capacity, develop contingency plans for aircraft towing and remote operations. - Ensures parts and materials are scheduled and routed to the job site to support the planned workload. - Authorizes ECs into TRAX production and ensures completion in accordance with established time-lines. - Serves as department representative for Engineering coordination and powerplant related meetings with Engineers to review upcoming maintenance and engineering controls. - Leads Maintenance Planning teleconference meetings for heavy maintenance visits (HMV) to discuss upcoming visits; takes action items and works towards solutions prior to the induction of each heavy maintenance visit. - Develops and maintains the long range plan (5 years) for scheduled heavy maintenance visits, engine and APU removals, landing gear removals, paint, special projects, and other major modifications. Builds and analyzes the airframe budget to minimize costs and maximize asset yields. - Develops and creates project dashboards, analytical processes, data modeling, and reporting tools for use in running the business. - Serves as the maintenance planning software administrator and subject matter expert (SME) for regard to application functionality improvements, major software upgrades, maintenance module development, testing and acceptance. - Performs other duties as assigned. Job-Specific Skills Required - A minimum of 3 years of experience in the areas of maintenance planning, aircraft routing, operations, business analytics, or aircraft and engine maintenance. - Excellent computer skills--advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook). - Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong negotiation skills. - Ability to work independently and achieve results with limited oversight or guidance. - Proven ability to make sound analytical decisions in a real-time, fast-paced environment. - Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and adaptability as a team player. - Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard shifts. - A high school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - 3 years of airline experience. - 3 years of related maintenance planning experience. - Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations. - Strong computer applications experience with TRAX, Visops, Vismaint, Aerostrat, Tableau, Microsoft SQL. - FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. - A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
