Design Thinking Facilitator

 

Al-Futtaim has an Innovation HUB that has been created to drive an Innovation agenda across the Al-Futtaim Group.  Innovation supports and provides services to all Al-Futtaim’s businesses including (but not limited to) Automotive, Retail, Healthcare, Real Estate and Financial Services. 

 

Your role is to work as a member of the Al-Futtaim Innovation Team will be;

• To provide a range of services from Innovation to Al-Futtaim’s Lines of Business (LOBs) in an effort to support their growth and drive a change agenda.
• Provide an overview of the Innovation Service Proposition to the LOBs, identifying areas of support and engagement where the Innovation HUB can help.
• Facilitate talks and Design Thinking Workshops with LOBs across strategy, challenges, problems and ideas.
• Own and run Brainstorming sessions or Idea Campaigns in response to challenges identified from the LOBs or Group
• Identify with the LOBs ideas or solutions that make sense – building a business case from which Snr. Management can prioritise activities.
• Identify and work with Start-ups, internal and external SMEs to successfully form teams to deliver for the LOBs
• Support and be part of Innovations L&D efforts across the Group for Design Thinking Methodology and Agile.
• Lead Service Design, Design Sprint and Prototyping services for the business, working with SMEs from the business and beyond to deliver solutions for the LOBs.
• Support Agile Sprints and other execution services (e.g. research or customer testing) with the LOBs.
• Actively identify the right people to be involved, facilitate design thinking workshops and lead, in conjunction with the LOBs, on the creation of pilots and their release.
• Act as an Innovation evangelist, promoting methodologies such as Design Thinking and Agile to help instil an Innovation culture through Al Futtaim. 
• Promotion of Innovation, its channels and its initiatives across multiple channels to drive external and OB engagement, and facilitate Innovation’s continued growth.
• To work with the global Start-up community; employing outreach and engagement on companies and solutions that may be of benefit to the Al-Futtaim Group.
• Reporting into the Innovation lead.

 

Key role specific accountabilities:

• Work with LOBs stakeholders to educate employees on Innovation and Design Thinking agenda
• Provide talks and presentations to stakeholders
• Run simple to intricate Design Thinking Workshops with LOBs and key stakeholders
• Run campaigns to source responses on strategy, challenges, issues or ideas across the Al-Futtaim Group
• Engage with Start-ups and external suppliers.
• Support LOBs in validation of ideas and solutions and help build business case. 
• Work with start-ups, vendors and internal customers to validate products, solutions, IP and pitches.
• Ability to stand in front of varied LOBs to drive Innovation Agenda
• Ability to run successful Design Thinking workshops with Snr Management and LOB SMEs
• Ability to build out viable business cases for implementation.
• Qualification / prioritisation of ideas
• Build network of internal and external capability to leverage for delivery
• External engagement with Start-ups and understanding of delivery capability. 

 

Ideate and Test

• Lead and support Service Design with key internal and external SMEs (including Start-ups)
• Lead and support Design Sprints with key internal and external SMEs (including Start-ups)
• Lead Design Thinking based offering to create Prototypes with the LOBs to build offerings that can be Productionised
• Lead Design Thinking and Agile based Proof of Concepts (POCs) with LOBs, Start-ups and External Suppliers to test solutions with an aim to Productionising them.
• Tap into resources across the LOB’s who have knowledge, expertise and understanding of the idea being explored.  Engage them into the Al Futtaim innovation methodology.
• Work with key groups across the business (including Young Leaders and Sinyar) to deliver solutions.
• Deliver solutions in line with the Vice Chairman’s strategic direction and Innovation principles.
• Drive benefits realisation and monitor solutions for revenue opportunity.

 

 

Person specific:

• Degree in business, IT, engineering, design or social sciences
• 5 years + experience in product or service development, design, research or technology.

 

Must have at least some or all of the below to be considered for the position:

• Experience and understanding of the principles of service design and design-led methods.
• Experience and understanding of data analysis and/or user research.
• Applied UX skill and software from wire-framing to various prototyping techniques across analogue and digital platforms.
• Candidate must be very digitally aware and technologically savvy.
• Experience in a regional/ global firm an advantage, particularly across multiple verticals (Retail, Automotive, Real Estate and Healthcare a plus).
• Good knowledge of Emerging Technologies plus strong understanding of both business and strategy and how technology can be applied to drive new areas of growth
• Experience in Innovation, Start-ups, Entrepreneurial ecosystems
• Agile Project management experience in order to follow multiple innovation projects and activities
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills. Arabic is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and productive relationships, to operate and communicate across teams, verticals and to work on multiple concurrent projects
• Meticulous and goal-oriented; this person must be able to manage several concurrent work streams and must be comfortable with ambiguity.
• Versed in Change Management and ability to communicate clearly.  Verbally and written. 
• Able to work confidently with internal stakeholders (at all levels), external vendors and startups.
• Team player who will collaborate strongly
• Think outside of the box – anything is possible
