Role Purpose:

 

Diagnoses and treats visual system diseases and disorders by assessing patient's condition, establishing diagnoses, developing treatment plans, treating patients, and maintaining records

 

Job Description:

 

Assesses patient's condition by examining the internal and external structure of the eyes and eye health, testing patient's visual acuity, depth and color perception, and ability to focus and coordinate the eye.

Treats patients by explaining condition and treatment to patient, prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses, providing vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation.

Treats special problem by referring patients to specialists.

Documents patient care by charting patient condition and treatment in records.

Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Maintains safe, septic, and healthy working environment by complying with procedure, rules and regulation, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacture instructions, troubleshooting malfunction, calling for repairs.

Develops staff by providing information, developing and conducting in-service training programs.

Maintains professional knowledge by participating in education opportunities, reading professional publication, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organization.

Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different request, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Adheres to privacy and confidentiality of proprietary company policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

 

Education:

  • Graduate in Cardiovascular program or equivalent combination of training is preferred.
  • Certification of registration by a National Certifying Cardio-Vascular Agency is desirable
  • Valid DHA license
  • Valid BLS & ACLS Certification

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Optometry or graduate in related field
  • Valid DHA license
  • Valid Basic Life Support Certification

 

Minimum Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as Optometrist or in a similar role.
  • Must have a complete knowledge of the eye and its complementary parts and the function of each part with an ability to do eyes and vision examinations, fix lenses.
  • Previous experience working with international accreditation i.e. JCIA
  • Experience in Computers preferred
