Job Title: Show Technician (Entertainment)
Reports to: Technical Supervisor, Technical Manager (Entertainment)
Department: Mall Entertainment
Location: Dubai Festival City Mall (DFCM), Dubai, UAE
JOB PURPOSE
Imagine is the Entertainment brand of Al Futtaim Group Real Estate incorporating all elements of entertainment provision and delivery throughout the groups real estate including the award winning multimedia Imagine shows.
Entertainment assets cover a broad spectrum of theatrical and entertainment equipment including mechanical /electrical, audio, lighting and lasers, AV, staging, fountain and water assets and all associated infrastructure
The role will involve carrying out planned and corrective maintenance for Imagine assets, involve operating scheduled shows, Special and live events and supporting operations and technical supervisors
The department is proactive and aims to be as self-sufficient as possible in undertaking special events, development projects and modifying and improving assets. This role therefore involves building in house equipment and equipment modifications as part of this strategy.
Whilst technicians may have specific skills and experience in one particular area they will be expected to work across all elements as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Show Support:
- Carry out repairs and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Carry out corrective maintenance as required
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks as assigned.
- Operate shows, special and live events to scheduled and as planned
- Carry out warehouse, logistics and transport work
Show Operation:
- Build in-house turnkey equipment
- Be responsible for carrying out equipment modifications
- Support production team in executing the technical elements for Multi-media shows, live, special events and fireworks shows
- Test and operate as required new or temporary equipment
- Assist in programming of shows
Safety:
- Ensure Safety compliance in all works ,checks and records in line with industry standards and good practice ,full observance of all site specific health and safety requirements and procedures
Administrative:
- Maintain Technical documentation and checklists
JOB CONTEXT
The role is required to contribute to the provision of a quality entertainment experience in a professional and efficient manner which will reflect the company’s reputation in the shopping centre industry. Serve as a member of the Operations and Show Support team for Imagine.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
- University Graduate or Trade school Diploma
- Proven art skills
- Video editing skills
- Animation and cartoon production skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Minimum Experience:
- 3 years Art, Animation and Video experience ideally within live entertainment
- Certification in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro or similar
- Solid experience with digital technology - After effect, Lightworks, Dimension
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
- Familiarity with drawing software such as CAD and Adobe illustrator
Job-Specific Skills:
- Creative credits for show /event delivery
- Proven ability to translate creative brief into effective visual execution
- Knowledge of aligning visual animation with music
- Arabic calligraphy would be an advantage
- Stakeholder management skills

- Creative thinker, clear and concise both verbally and written
