Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Director Information Security assists the Managing Director & CISO in setting the long-term strategy while overseeing the security of enterprise IT assets and information. This role defines security policy, ensures security requirements are met, approves the security of systems and drives the overall security posture of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. This responsibility extends into all business units within the organization including: airport systems, maintenance and engineering, inflight, aircraft, safety, e-commerce, back office, infrastructure, and cloud. As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team of technical experts within Governance, Risk, and Compliance. Key Duties - Sets the strategy for new technologies and security products that will support security requirements for the company and its customers, business partners, and vendors and establishes the strategy to mitigate security risks within the organization. - Collaborates closely with senior level technology leaders to develop and plan the information security architecture strategy. - Collects, improves upon, and reports regularly on value-added metrics to the Managing Director & CISO, assists quarterly in drafting Executive reports for the Board of Directors (BOD) and periodically presents to the BOD as requested. - Utilizes interpersonal skills to foster and grow business relationships across all business units and to communicate at all levels of the organization from executives to front line staff. - Directs complex security principles and requirements into business initiatives that securely drive innovation, improve customer experience, and control costs. - Leads and influences across technical and business teams to find cost-effective solutions to difficult business problems. - Develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and disciplines. - Serves as the escalation point and security expert for solution designs and technical consulting services. - Acts as a change agent through hands-on technical leadership. - Demonstrates creative thinking and innovation with pragmatic outcomes that build constructive business relationships and gains the trust of others. - Shapes culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors. Drives continuous process and technology improvements. Job-Specific Skills (years of experience, key knowledge, skills & abilities) Required - 8 years of information security experience. - 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years of directly leading people. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, information technology, management information systems, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Demonstrated experience leading and driving program improvements across information security domains including Governance, Risk, and Compliance, with a defense-in-depth approach. - Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated experience making articulate and effective verbal and written presentations to different audiences. - Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to lead, build, and develop a team of senior IT professionals through formal and informal reporting relationships. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Industry certification in security (e.g. CISA, CISSP, and/or GIAC). - Demonstrated ability to influence and clearly communicate across vast sections of IT and the business, including company leaders.
