  • This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. The Principal Architect, Unified Communications & Collaboration will support all Collaboration technology needs for American Airlines. Additionally, this position will partner with other teams to fulfil requirements related to the Unified Communications Product group.
  • The Principal Architect, Unified Communications & Collaboration will be a key participant in the implementation of all new UC & Collaboration systems and technologies, ensuring that architecture best practices are followed for all implementations. This position will stay abreast of organizational business changes, projected modernizations and upgrades, and technology trends and future changes being performed by vendors, in order to recommend the most current and effective technology improvements and evolutions to UC & Collaboration space. This position is the Tier3 Expert in the design, implementation, and operation of core infrastructure technologies and equipment. This position is responsible for providing technical oversight of global operations, maintenance and continuous improvement of Unified Communication & Collaboration services, with a focus on providing a high-quality customer and end user experience.
What you'll do
  • Lead the planning, securing, and forecasting of Enterprise UC & Collaboration initiatives
  • Lead the efforts required to solve for, architect, implement and operate new UC & Collaboration solutions and technologies into the enterprise, and ensure collaborative environment is highly available and functions as a mission critical service
  • Define and create a well-organized quality UC & Collaboration system architectures that will promote reliability and ease of maintenance
  • Lead the integration and interoperability of UC & Collaboration with multiple applications and platforms
  • Design and implement monitoring and reporting that exposes quality metrics necessary to measure the performance and effectiveness of Enterprise UC & Collaboration services, and to support decisions for continuous improvements
  • Liaison with internal and external technical resources to define optimum solutions to quality challenges
  • Maintain and update skillset as it relates to what are coming trends in UC & Collaboration technologies and methods of delivering a future-focused collaborative environment
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical artifacts pertaining to the design, standards, implementation, assessment, and analysis of Enterprise UC & Collaboration services
  • Provide training, webinars, whitepapers as necessary to team members
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with customers
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of experience with Collaboration technologies
  • 3 years of experience in the Microsoft O365 product space

  • Airline industry experience
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust communications based on audience
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, and collaboration
  • Ability to recruit, develop and lead team

  • Proven ability to build, cultivate, and promote strong relationships with internal customers at all levels of the organization, as well as with IT counterparts, business partners, and external groups.
  • Ability to lead teams, work cross-functionally, build consensus on challenging issues, and work in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed resources
  • Proficiency in handling operational issues effectively, and understating escalation, communication, and crisis management
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodology, as well as ability to lead teams to perform and evolve in a DevOps environment
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven ability to establish and manage short term tactical goals, as well as, long term strategic objectives
  • Understanding of technical problems and solutions in relation to the current environment
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills, and possess a strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment
