  • ​This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division
  • Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What you'll do
  • Collaborates with leaders, product owners, architects, technical leads and developers, along with internal customers to understand requirements and develop systems functionalities according to business requirements
  • Maintains and enhances existing Pricing applications in Revenue Planning and Technology organization
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues, identifies and implements solutions
  • Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
  • Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
  • Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs
  • Proven ability in providing technical design specifications based on product requirements.
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of experience in object-oriented software development and maintenance using Java and J2EE
  • 3 years of experience with Core Spring, Spring boot and Web Services
  • 3 years of experience in Sencha Extjs or any UI frameworks

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in object-oriented software development and maintenance using Java and J2EE
  • Experience with Neo4J graph databases, Spark and Scala, ETL tools.
  • Experience with cloud technologies using Azure, IBM providers
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace
  • Airline Industry experience
Skills, Licenses & Certifications

 

  • Strong proficiency in object-oriented design techniques / principles and design patterns
  • Strong skills and expertise in Service Oriented Architecture and Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON,WSDL/XML)
  • Experience in IBM WAS Liberty, Web Development
  • Should have 4+ years, working in a Unix (Linux) operating system, Unix Security concepts, folder structure, links and environment variables
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle databases
  • Development experience using Agile/iterative methodology, Rally
  • Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including automated test cases using junit,Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues as well as investigate and resolve problems on software products, systems
  • Understanding of Release Management principles with experience working in a strong structured environment of managing release levels and deployments will be highly valuable
  • Must independently work well within a team environment and across teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Position requires rotational off-hours on-call support
