Job Purpose: 

Responsible for supervising and directing nursing services within the group. Holds accountability for maintenance of standards within nursing department. Providing effective management and leadership by acting as a role model; developing team performance; managing the department; utilizing resources effectively. Contributes to the delivery of the organization’s objectives by; continuous quality improvement; service improvement, development and modernization; staff management

 

Job Description: 

Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an education atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients and staff in a safe, secure environment.

Maintains confidentiality of all data related to staff patients, and hospital operations.

Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

Monitors staff compliance with mandatory DHA requirements

Maintains comprehensive Nursing and KPI records on all assigned staff and departments

Investigates patient’s reported complaints, problems and concerns and provides feedback to Nursing/hospital administration. Implements any training needs required in relation to complaints

Completes requirements for nursing documentations’, policies, procedures and SOP’s and other work duties as assigned.

Plans adequate staffing schedules and role mapping for the clinical needs

Plans and schedules required training needs

Plans staff annual leave absences judiciously to ensure equity and fairness for all staff without compromising operational requirements

Provides all reports, statistics and other information requested by nursing and hospital administration by identified deadlines ensuring reports, statistics and information are accurate

Coaches, mentors, counsels and educates staff with identified training needs as required.

Monitors clinical performance of employees, ensuring all deadlines for completion of orientation and competencies have been met. Develops performance improvement plan and training plans for any identified deficiencies

Promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement through the use of audit, FOCUS –PDCA projects and patient feedback. Performs any audits requested by administration and provides accurate data. Discusses audit results with staff and develops action plans when less than acceptable results are achieved.

Ensures effective communication within the unit/department between staff, patient, and/or significant others along with all Medical and Medical Allied professionals 

Ensures all directives from senior management are communicated to staff and monitors compliance after implementation

Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

 

Education:

  • Nursing Specialist with Graduate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field. 
  • Valid DHA license
  • Post registration certification in the specialty of practice preferred.

 

 

Minimum Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years supervisory experience with at least 5 years in a senior managerial position
  • Previous experience working with international accreditation i.e. JCIA preferred
  • Previous educational planning and training delivery experience
  • Knowledgeable of Dubai Health Authority regulatory standards and has the ability to guide the Nursing Team in accordance with the regulatory requirements and CME/LST requirements

 

Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:

  • Supervise and undertake policy development and staffing duties
  • Ability to deliver quality nursing services
  • Ability in performing budgeting, cost analysis, headcount, staffing, audits and management requirements
  • Ability to prepare and implement standard operating procedures for a quality workflow
