JOB PURPOSE:

To implement, coordinate and manage Health, Safety, Security & Environmental operations, and programs in order to ensure full compliance of all Al-Futtaim Automotive facilities in all its operating Emirates with the standard regulation/requirements imposed by Government Authorities to provide safe and comfortable working conditions for the associates and customers. This also involves constant site visits to monitor and maintain the daily operations, which must be improved where necessary so as to eliminate all potential risks/hazards to which the people, property, assets, and business may be exposed.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Loss Prevention: Increase HSSE related hazard/gap identification & reporting by 65% through regular Inspections on all assigned business units. Achieve a 45% reduction in preventable incidents by assigning appropriate Action Plans and implementing corrective and preventative measures to prevent loss of health, life, assets, and reputation on the HSSE related gaps & Hazards that have been identified.

Emergency Preparedness & Response: Manage and improve the site's compliance with the internal and governmental Firefighting & alarm system regulations to meet the basic requirements. Certify, train and develop the Emergency Response Teams. Develop site-specific emergency response actions. Plan, Organize, conduct and supervise Emergency Evacuation Exercises for all assigned sites.

Risk Assessment: Conduct Risk assessments every quarter to identify all potential risks and propose corrective/preventative control measures to reduce and/or eliminate the risks to which the people/property/assets are exposed in Automotive premises.

Initiation & Leadership of Change: Conceptualize, plan, organize, and implement/action an HSSE oriented initiative (Program) in all Automotive sites to drive significant improvements in companywide regulatory compliance, workplace environment conditions, standards, employee welfare, and/or that which directly or indirectly increases savings.

Creation of a safety-first culture: Increase employee awareness in regards to relevant HSSE regulations, work-related HSSE hazards, and risks to which they are exposed. The focus should also revolve around safe procedures and precautionary measures to control reduce and/or eliminate the risk of such hazards and the procedures of cordoning and reporting of any identified defects in the system, equipment, and tools through the company-specified escalation channels.

Government Affairs: Build & maintain a strong relationship with Governmental Entities to act as the main point of contact (in coordination with the Department Head) to facilitate effective business support by constantly being up-to-date with the latest local regulations to ensure full compliance at all times and protect the business from financial loss (accidents, legal claims, violations, etc.).

 

JOB CONTEXT: Define organizational policy and other factors that have a critical impact on the job

The purpose of the role is to promote positive health, safety, security, and environmental culture while ensuring that all occupational risks/hazards are minimized and where possible eliminated so as to become fully compliant with the current local regulations and requirements to avoid incidents involving loss of lives, health, and assets.

Strict methods and practices shall be put in place to facilitate this drive in order to attain a robust HSSE standard throughout Al-Futtaim Automotive Business Units.

This involves continuous (regular) visits to the sites located in all Emirates to ensure that the required standards are adapted correctly and constantly maintained.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree graduate or higher. NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent is required for the role

Minimum Experience: 3 years in Health & Safety, Security, Police, Civil Defense, Army, or other similar roles.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Proven track record in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment

• Good Knowledge of incident reports and investigation

Job-Specific Requirements: Must be able to travel to all emirates in order to visit the various branches on a weekly basis in order to train, implement and enforce the required HSSE standards. The nature of the role requires the individual to always be reachable by phone in case of emergencies at any time and day of the week (including weekends). Occasionally, the HSSE Manager will be required to manage the safety and security of internal events, including annual ceremonies, opening ceremonies, product launch, competitions etc.

 

Behavioral Competencies: Ability to speak, read and write both in English and Arabic; perform assigned duties in an efficient and accurate manner; Analyse complex problems, evaluate alternatives and make creative and sound decisions and/or recommendations; develop effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, superiors and those contacted in the course of work. Must be open-minded and self-motivated in order to proactively resolve existing and undiscovered issues/gaps within the businesses and find effective solutions; must be self-driven and use all possible information/knowledge bases in order to be fully updated on the local (mandatory) requirements/regulations and continuously work towards the improvement of the HSSE standards throughout Automotive Business Units.
