  • This job is a member of Technology and Transformation (TnT) organization within the Information Technology Division.
  • Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work 
  • This is a product technical lead role for product Observability, which provides visibility of product health across TnT organization You will lead technology directions and implement framework for collecting and displaying product health metrics. 

What you'll do

  • Collaborates with leaders, technical product owner, architects, delivery manager and other developers, engineers along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements
  • Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven development 
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
  • Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates
  • Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
  • Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
  • Works closely with technical product owner and architects ds to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth needs 
  • Design and develop front end, back end service and APIs for Observability framework
  • Follow DevOps best practice 
  • Coach other developers and engineers on the team

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments 
  • 3 years of professional, design, and open-source experience 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments
  • Open source contribution
  • Experience with Cloud native application design and implementation
  • Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring tool configuration for performance monitoring and tuning

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Proficient in full stack development
  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies:
  • JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React
  • server-side languages such as Java, Python, Ruby
  • API development. Tyepscript, Node JS, REST API, JSON
  • Build/deployment tools: Maven, Gradel, Git, Junit, Mockito 
  • Relational database. Familiarity with database technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • Working experience using Git in a continuous integration and continuous delivery environment.
  • infrastructure and application monitoring tool stack, such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Moogsoft 
  • Cloud experience with docker container and kubernetes is a plus 
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
  • Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • A team player and technical coach who works and communicates well with both technical and non-technical personal.
