  • ​This job is a member of the Safety Team within the Integrated Operations Division
  • ​This team is responsible for providing safety data analysis to all workgroups and divisions at American Airlines. 
  • This job develops and maintains in-depth reporting and analysis to tell the story of safety trends and issues, possible reasons, and potential solutions.  This job also serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for safety data such as employee injuries and aircraft damages.

What you'll do

  • Define all algorithms and logic to use in the development of corporate metrics
  • Dictate data structure, to include the blending of existing data sources so that additional data points may be captured without impacting application requirements
  • Manage permissions for multiple data sources
  • Create complex queries and calculations
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc reporting
  • Build executive level dashboards for concise reporting of safety metrics
  • Continually evaluate new data for use in safety analysis

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training
  • 4 years' experience in determining metrics & analysis for high-reliability industries
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of data and finding conclusions
  • Experience delivering presentations and leading meetings across all levels of management

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master's degree in Aviation Safety, Data Science, Statistics, or similar field
  • Knowledge of R and Python
  • Proficiency in BowTie modeling​
  • Experience in creating application user manual(s)
  • Knowledge of airline ground operations

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office to include, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx, and Cognos
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Detail oriented, innovative, and demonstrated analytical decision making skills
  • Exceptional ability to manage high volume of tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, problem solving, diplomacy, etiquette and team building
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple complex projects and tasks
