- Responsible for preparation, analysis and auditing of financial records for American Airlines Credit Union.
What you'll do
- Gathers month-end accrual requests from various departments and posts accrual entries in the general ledger after ensuring the reasonableness of the accrual amounts and reviewing supporting documentation for material accrual amounts
- Completes general ledger account reconciliations for accounts with daily transactions and/or complex, material transactions
- Prepares budget to actual variance explanations for various income/expense categories and explains causes for the variances and spot trends as appropriate and necessary
- Analyzes income and expense variances
- Prepares documents and files requested by internal/external auditors and NCUA examiners
- Creates and maintains policies and procedures for the processes/functions
- Reviews financial records of the Credit Union to identify anomalies and trends
- Develops necessary processes to support new or modified product offerings
- Participates in analysis, scope, solution design and implementation activities for projects, process improvements and other initiatives
- Identifies and suggest ways to implement opportunities for efficiency and productivity gains
- Performs other duties and ad-hoc assignments as needed
- Ensures the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in accounting concepts and standards
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related financial field
- Post-graduate degree and/or professional certification
- Three or more years of directly relevant accounting work experience
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
- Ability to research, analyze and report data with little guidance
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment under tight deadlines and high-volume pressure with minimal supervision
- Ability to self-motivate with strong organization skills, capacity for attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Ability to perform in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks and function as an integral part of a team
- Ability to pass applicable American Airlines pre-hire compliance checks
- Must have an acceptable credit history, which will be verified
