- This job is a member of the Credit Union Team within the American Airlines Credit Union.
- Responsible for auditing activity on dormant accounts, abandoned property reporting, maintaining foreign member accounts, and tax reporting.
What you'll do
- Reviews activity on all dormant accounts to insure correct procedures are being followed and conducts follow up with the MSRs as needed to complete this activity correctly
- Delivers monthly statement samples to the Statement Team to review for accuracy and compliance requirements; conducts validation of general items on statements; sends approval to our statement vendor for processing; researches any statement related issues and performs file maintenance for any statement mail code changes
- Requests data from the core for abandoned property processing for each state according to their reporting requirements and deadlines; utilizes 3rd party vendor software as processing tool to format and deliver the reports by each state’s procedures; share this information with the Outbound Outreach department who will attempt to contact these members; and close the accounts that were not activated and balance items to the general ledger prior to submitting to the states
- Processes notification letters to foreign members that need to provide us with an updated W8-BEN form; performs file maintenance on accounts as needed
Initiates notification letters to members when the IRS has reported there is a SSN/ITIN mismatch; performs file maintenance - Places accounts in and out of federal tax withholding based on instruction from the IRS for reasons such as underreporting
- Processes EOY Tax Reporting; reviews categories to insure we have correct data for tax reporting and provides corrected tax notices to the member and IRS as needed
- Acts as backup for monthly dividend validation process
- Conducts testing of all related products and procedures within this position
- Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass applicable American Airlines pre-hire compliance checks
- Must have an acceptable credit history, which will be verified
- The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance
- Previous banking or Credit Union experience
- Experience with Episys system
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software; Level 1 Excel experience
- Ability to exercise excellent member service skills and professional telephone manner
- Ability to perform in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks and function as an integral part of a team
- Ability to interact professionally with all employees and members
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels both verbally and written
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Ability to self-motivate with strong organization skills and capacity for attention to detail
- Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines
Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings and weekends - Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
