About the role:
We are currently seeking an experiencd Senior Data Scientist to join our Group Digital team. The purpose of the role is to lead the development and deployment of energy management data science use cases at Al Futtaim Group (AFG). Reporting to the Head of Data Science, the Senior Data Scientist will leverage existing AI and cloud technologies for:
- integration hardware/sensors and develop software to manage IoT/Industry 4.0 applications
- automation IoT/Industry 4.0 applications
- building IoT/Edge pipelines, Machine Learning & Deep Learning solutions
The role holder will support in coaching/training junior data scientists and developing a set of standards/protocols to ensure that the data science practice is scalable and future-proof.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the delivery of energy management use cases by proposing and delivering advanced analytic and optimization models, utilizing a blend of contemporary and traditional data mining techniques, applied to both structured and unstructured data sets.
- This includes, conducting data quality assessments, sharing relevant insights with business stakeholders, creating model monitoring solutions and conducting QA on other data science models (built internally or through 3rd party vendors)
- Implement models by transforming/optimizing for performance code and deploying them into production
- Experience in building/deploying Data Science solutions in Engineering, HVAC, or IoT/Edge projects.
- Provide guidance, training and coaching to junior data scientists and the analytics community on data science frameworks, best practices, and technologies.
- Support in the development of analytics standards and protocols to ensure scalability and support self-service advanced analytics
- Research and stay up to date on latest data science and analytics approaches and practices in the market ensuring that, when relevant, these are appropriately leveraged within Data and Analytics function
- Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or any other related quantitative field.
Minimum Experience and Knowledge:
- 7+ years of working experience in data science, with at least 3 years working in developing and deployment ML/DL solutions for IoT/Industry 4.0 applications
- Proven record of delivering business impact through analytics solutions
- Experience with probability and statistics inclusive of machine learning, optimization, forecasting and experimental design
- Deep understanding of machine learning & deep learning concepts and algorithms, various statistical techniques, and experimentation analysis workflows
- Experience in benchmarking and model performance evaluation and improvement
Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:
- Highly proficient and experienced in scripting languages and have rapid prototyping skills, that is, fluency in SQL , Python , Spark, etc. among others.
- Technical background in engineering, HVAC and/or IoT is desirable.
- Experience on the Azure Cloud platform: including Azure Databricks, Azure ML, Azure IoT and etc.
- Experience working with Developer tools such as Azure DevOps, PyCharm/MS Visual Studio, Docker etc.
- Well versed in CI/CD and MLOps
- Experience using visualization tools is preferred including Tableau.
- Strong leadership skills to mentor and lead junior data scientists.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives.
- Experience in supporting the adoption and training/coaching efforts needed to ensure value creation from analytics.
