  • The successful candidate will assume a Principal Programmer/Technical Lead position in the Corporate Security & Emergency Response product area.    
  • The Principal Programmer/Technical Lead will provide technical leadership for assigned IT development personnel and be responsible for the technical design and implementation of new applications as well as enhancements to existing applications.  Additionally, this position is responsible for the technical oversite of all steady state support of applications in this product area.  Key aspects which will differentiate this role are: possessing working knowledge and successful execution of latest industry best practices and trends within end to end software delivery with a focus on DevOps and CI/CD while overseeing operational support of applications supporting a product area.  The position will also possess working knowledge of data frameworks and management (e.g. SQL/non-SQL, In-memory Cache, SSD); cloud frameworks, content delivery network design, web services design, rules engine design, and software optimization techniques. 
  • This position will work with product management, business analysts, developers, testers and architectural teams to define strategy and requirements, develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, identifying and securing commitment from external and internal teams for new initiatives, driving consensus on the technical approach, and overseeing technical backlogs for the product team from design through delivery.

What you'll do

  • Works with product management,  business analysts, developers, testers and architectural teams to define strategy and requirements for both business and technical product features, including providing all architectural support for the product area
  • Creates technical roadmap for product area in collaboration with Product Owner
  • Define standards, policies and patterns to contribute safe code to the Platform (coding standards, review procedures, test artifacts)
  • Develops and drives high-level strategic initiatives and secures commitment from external and internal teams for new initiatives
  • Drives consensus on technical approach from design through delivery and for ongoing support
  • Applies software engineering best industry practices to web applications and services
  • Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and decisions, including participating in code reviews, to team developing custom and off-the-shelf web applications and services
  • Creates prototypes (POCs) of new ideas
  • Acts as a higher level of support above operations and MSPs
  • Mentor other Tech/Team leads, Developers and Architects

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of software development experience in the IT Industry
  • 2 years Application Programming Interface (API) framework / REST development
  • Understanding of DevOps goals and the impact of DevOps to the build and release needs of the development and integration efforts

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 8+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments
  • Airline Industry experience
  • Experience providing application support for physical access control and other sensitive security systems.
  • Completion of SSI training, as required by 49 CFR 1520

    • Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Cloudbees, ADO, Nexus, TDD, Automated regression testing)
    • Experience with cloud framework implementation, micro-services, and .NET frameworks
    • Experience in service optimizations for performance
    • Ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, to be delivered in a successful and timely manner
    • Demonstrated experience leading large scale projects, and well-rounded technical background in current data management technologies
    • Proficiency and demonstrated experience in the following technologies:
      • .NET Technologies: C#, ASP.NET MVC
      • Database and persistence frameworks: Oracle, SQL, Caching, Object/Relational Mapping, Query performance tuning
      • Web Servers: Tomcat, Pivotal tcServer, Windows /IIS
      • Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON/WSDL/XML)
      • Front-end and other frameworks: Spring Framework , JavaScript, MVC, HTML, CSS, jQuery, AJAX
      • Build/deployment tools: Git, NUnit, jUnit, MSBuild, ADO or similar tooling
      • Infrastructure & Networking Knowledge (Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP, load-balancing, DNS)
      • Knowledge of TDD and automated testing preferred
      • Knowledge of PCI Compliance, Security / OWASP standards preferred
      • Linux/Unix shell Scripting or other scripting like Powershell
      • Familiar with Microsoft, IBM cloud technologies
