- American’s Maintenance Planning Strategy & Analysis team is a dedicated group which provides thought leadership to strategic planning topics within the realm of Maintenance Planning. This group is tasked with bringing analytical rigor and corresponding narrative to all aspects of Line Maintenance Planning’s purview – from the maintenance footprint to workload analysis to TechOps’ schedule inputs to Network Planning.
- The Analyst/Sr. Analyst lends a data-driven voice to strategic topics, resulting in thought-pieces that glean new insights into American’s large and complex line maintenance footprint and the strategic levers that underpin that network. They work broadly within the Maintenance Planning and greater TechOps teams; and as a cross-functional collaborator with teams across the airline. The role will involve coordination with Operations Planning & Performance, Network Planning, various TechOps constituents including Line Maintenance and Reliability, and other internal/external business partners.
What you'll do
- Develops and applies a new approach to data analysis in various Maintenance Capacity Planning and Utilization contexts
- Creates analyses to support initiatives tied to TechOps’ strategic objective
- Creates consultant-like presentation of findings, telling technical stories to non-technical and/or executive audiences
- Takes high-level problem statements and abstract hypotheses and synthesizes analysis, extraction of insights, and articulation of critical findings and takeaways that ultimately answer questions and improve conviction
- Collaborates across the various TechOps and Airline Planning functions
- Other tasks as assigned by the Manager, Maintenance Planning Strategy & Analysis
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or experience in airline planning, operations, analysis or professional services (advisory/management consulting)
- Airline knowledge (operations and commercial preferred), advanced analytics, business intelligence and visualization, storytelling
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.
- Experience with Mosaic data warehouse and data retrieval tools such as Tableau, SQL
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Knowledge of American Airlines’ operational and/or network planning data
- Experience with advanced programming language such R, Python, Alteryx, Java, etc.
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Successful track record in an analytical environment
- Tendency to challenge the status quo; “Why?” is a large component of our vocabulary
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Intellectual curiosity and self-motivation to understand root causes of operational happenings within the business unit
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation skills (development and delivery)
