Why you'll love this job
Taking care of our team members is critical to our long-term success. Labor Analysis analysts participate in union negotiating sessions alongside our Labor Relations and Legal departments and provide strategic and economic direction to senior leaders pertaining to labor contracts, employee compensation and benefits, and team member productivity. The wages associated with our team members are the largest single expense at the airline, and the Labor Analysis team is central to the strategic management of that expense. Due to this importance of this role, the group gets unique exposure to certain groups throughout the company, including the People and Operations Planning departments.
What you'll do
As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.
Our analysts develop skills extending beyond traditional financial analysis:
-
- Strategy: Provide strategic and economic direction to Senior Management pertaining to labor contract negotiations and employee compensation and benefits. Participate in union negotiating sessions, and provide updates to the CFO
- Analysis: Drive economic analysis and develop models to support better decisions across the business, benchmark labor costs and productivity against competitors and lead other internal consulting projects related to American’s 95,000+ team members
- Teamwork: Analysts will engage in cross-functional analyses and project planning, collaborating with Labor Relations, Crew Resources, Benefits, HR and Legal, working to identify opportunities for financial and operational improvement
