- Onboard Dining and Service is a dynamic organization responsible for menu design, catering operations and logistics for system-wide flights to provide our customers a transformational onboard experience. This role is responsible for the oversight and execution of the design, development, planning, and implementation of all retail menu offerings for American Airlines’ Main Cabin Retail Program.
- The position will interact closely with internal and external stakeholders including Purchasing, Flight Service, Marketing, Onboard Dining team, catering ketch and Information Technology. This role will also require vendor management to include contract negotiation and project management and reporting, with a goal of driving profitability with the program and with balance of creative program and financial oversight.
- Also, oversees the sales functionality as it pertains to our Flight Attendant tablets.
- The role is a part of the Onboard Product and Service team within our Onboard Dining Service group.
What you'll do

- Act as internal SME regarding the buy on-board program (products sold inflight) and related policies and procedures for inflight catering
- Generate solutions to drive revenue and profitability within the program
- Works in close collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage the program and products including development and approval of new menu offerings
- Investigate operational catering issues and assist with development and implementation of solutions
- Analyze FA reports and customer feedback regarding products and services to highlight trends and opportunities for improvement
- Monthly management of internal menu specifications, onboard provisioning levels, onboard menu guides for flight attendants, and printed and online customer facing menus and collateral
- Monitor competitive landscape to ensure menus remain competitive with other global airlines
- Interface with all levels of management within American Airlines and external supplier groups including creating and delivering presentations
- Business stakeholder for sales platform on Flight Attendant Tablet tool with Flight Service and IT
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience
- 3 years prior experience in airline/hotel food and beverage, restaurants, catering, purchasing, Flight Service or food retail industry
- Able to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

- Project management experience with ability to lead, organize and prioritize projects with internal & external stakeholders
- High level of initiative and proven experience managing a large workload and changing priorities with limited direction and ease
- 4+ years in Airline food service
Skills, Licenses & Certifications

- Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and Word. AirVision experience a plus
- Able to work in fast-paced, operational environment with strong organizational skills
- Creative and analytical, with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Able to identify and drive creative product and marketing solutions while operating within a budget
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required
