What you'll do

  • Responsible for contributing to American Airlines’ success through consulting, identifying, and delivering People services and solutions that will result in enhanced business capability, and performance/ People engagement.
  • Build and leverage relationships at all levels in the organization, informing and assisting others while being viewed as a valued, trusted, and credible business partner
  • Act as a trusted advisor to client leaders, assisting them to carry out their business and functional plans
  • Work with business leaders to effectively lead and execute all annual people initiatives for the organization
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients to implement solutions for employee relations issues trends, patterns
  • Partner with business to provide guidance to management, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and performance improvement counseling 
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to drive and/or lead change
  • Foster a culture that is diverse and inclusive, in line with the strategic goals of the organization, team building, organizational development, engagement and accountability
  • Facilitate effective change management initiatives
  • Present options to leaders on organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, employee development, etc.
  • Identify and deliver training, both compliance and leadership, to client work group(s) (e.g., work environment, diversity, equity, and inclusion)
  • Serve as an advocate for our employees and works to resolve team member People related questions and issues
  • Explain and interpret company and countries (Brazil and Uruguay) rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for employees and management
  • Coordinates and participates in the planning, recruiting, qualifying, screening and selection of candidates for employment
  • Provides detailed employee information to attend, resolve, follow-up labor cases and/or any other information required by local authorities. Own and lead the union relationship with local leadership for Brazil, Uruguay, and additional countries to be assigned
  • Other duties and special assignments/projects as required by Senior People Manager

All you'll need for success

  • College degree preferably in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or Psychology.  Employee Relations and Human Resources experience is preferred for this position
  • Proved knowledge of Brazilian and Uruguayan labor laws and regulations (extended South America labor knowledge preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills, with proven experience of influencing leaders and team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • People management skills
  • Strong ability to build relationships, both internally and externally
  • Strategic thought leadership and innovation 
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make balanced commercial decisions
