Why you'll love this job

  • Use your analytical talents and creativity to drive performance improvements at the largest and most complex airline in the world.
  • Specifically, as an Airport Operations Analyst, you will partner with Sr. leaders, front line staff, and other operational business units to identify root cause and provide a data driven solution.
  • This job is a member of the Airport Operations Performance Analytics Team within the Operations Planning and Performance (OP&P) organization.

What you'll do

As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

  • Perform complex quantitative analysis on a wide range of airport performance subject areas such as “turn” performance, airport manpower planning, and baggage handling to identify insights, improve policies and procedures, and report on KPIs.
    • Turn performance: Operating 6,000 flights a day isn’t easy! You’ll study the many intertwined steps between the time a plane rolls into its gate and when it pushes back to head back into the air.
    • Airport manpower planning: To run a great operation we need the right people in the right place at the right time. With an ocean of operational and staffing data you’ll supply airport leaders with data and tools to figure out the optimal staffing mix to run efficiently on “blue sky” days and recover quickly when things get tough.
    • Baggage Handling: We carry nearly half a million bags each day! You’ll study their journey end to end to understand what works, identify the root cause of mishandlings, and develop process improvements.
  • Produce and maintain reporting to track KPIs and highlight opportunities.
    • You’ll use your Python/R/SAS skills and whole lot of SQL clean up, join, and synthesize huge and complex datasets.
    • Use reporting and visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, and Excel (Pivot Tables) to present the data across the company.
  • Good data is essential to good reporting and analysis.
    • Act as the data expert and main point of contact for data requests around your area of expertise.
    • You’ll also work closely with our IT partners to develop new data steams and enhancing existing one.

All you'll need for success
