About The Job

The Global Government Affairs group is a part of American’s broader Corporate Affairs team and represents the Company before Congress, regulators, and international policymakers. 

 

Specifically, you will do the following:

  • Serve as American’s primary liaison to Republican Members of the Senate, building relationships with members and key staff who represent hub states, serve on committees of jurisdiction, and elected leadership
  • Educate policymakers on key Company initiatives, including consumer protection issues, PFCs and other tax proposals, and general corporate matters
  • Provide timely analysis to senior Company leaders and Global Government Affairs colleagues with respect to transportation- and aviation-related developments
  • Identify opportunities to leverage the American Airlines brand and to increase awareness of the Company’s community affairs and philanthropic efforts
  • Serve as an active Ambassador for the AA Political Action Committee and represent the Company at congressional fundraising events
  • Participate in industry events on behalf of the Company and play an active role with A4A, the industry’s primary trade association

Qualifications

  • Highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience leading team members
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a Congressional, agency, or relevant industry role
  • Demonstrated possession of the attributes central to the core of American’s leadership model, including caring for all team members and an attitude of relentless collaboration, and:

  • Proficiency in managing successful relationships over long periods of time
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with executive presence and the ability to run meetings effectively and keep projects on track
  • Ability to work on a bi-partisan basis and to interact professionally and constructively with senior government  officials and staffers with different backgrounds
  • Comfortable working with senior management and partners at all levels within the Company
  • Graduate degree strongly preferred
