Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **POSITION INFORMATION** Role Summary Alaska Airlines is seeking a leader to be responsible for a software delivery team supporting our $2.5 billion, multi-channel e-commerce business. This position leads the full-stack engineering team responsible. The successful candidate will lead multiple delivery teams staffed with software engineers. This leader will partner closely with scrum masters, product owners, and product managers to deliver high quality software that achieves business value. Scope & Complexity This position supports software and information technology management activities for Alaska Airlines Key Duties Leads a High Performing Team - Owns the 'delivery ecosystem' and is responsible for building and supporting a high performance agile culture - Leads a complete delivery team of software engineers to continually enhance and improve the products under their umbrella - Attracts, retains, and cultivates a high performing software development organization - Paints a compelling vision that motivates team members to achieve excellent results - Inspires and empowers the team to collaborate and continually improve their skills and practices Delivers Great Software - Coaches and mentors delivery team members using agile practices focused on early and continuous delivery of valuable software - Creates and implements strategies to reduce the time it takes to deliver increments of software, including improving continuous integration and continuous delivery - Ensures the team sustains the quality of their software by using practices such as test-driven development, unit testing, mob programming, and continuous deployment - Drives the team to maintain effective processes to ensure high service availability Partners Closely with Business Stakeholders - Builds a strong, collaborative partnership with stakeholders to deliver software that achieves business objectives - Creates transparency into the delivery team's release plans, progress, and impediments - Contributes ideas to the business roadmap based on awareness of relevant industry trends - Negotiates to ensure technology priorities are pragmatically considered alongside business objectives Be a Technology Visionary - Working with our Enterprise Architect, sets a technology vision and enlists the team to build a roadmap to achieve said vision - Maintains awareness of emerging technology trends, tools, and frameworks and pragmatically introduces them when they can improve the team's productivity - Collaborates with peer engineering managers within e-commerce to align technology vision and share successes Job-Specific Skills Required - A minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience - A minimum of 5 years building and supporting high-traffic, transactional, n-tier web sites - A minimum of 2 years of management/leadership experience, leading and mentoring a team of software engineers that build customer-facing, high-scale, custom applications - Proven experience selecting and managing relationships with external vendors to deliver and support technology solutions - Expertise using agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum) to plan and deliver increments of functionality - Expertise coaching teams to adopt Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as TDD, unit testing, and pair programming - Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate information technology concepts to executive level management in non-IT terms - Demonstrated experience with technical project management, planning, and effectively meeting deadlines - High school diploma or equivalent - Minimum age of 18 - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in engineering, computer science, math, physics, or a related discipline - Airline or travel industry experience Job-Specific Leadership Expectations Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be remarkable. **PAY** Exempt **EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY** Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are equal opportunity employers.
