About The Job
The Asia Market Manager, Food & Beverage Service is responsible for the design, development, planning, and implementation of all menu design for American Airlines’ Japan, China, Korea, and Oceania markets. The position will report to the Manager, International Menu Design and will interact closely with Purchasing, Flight Service, Marketing, and various suppliers.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
- Act as internal subject matter expert regarding onboard menus and related policies and procedures for inflight catering.
- Work in close collaboration with catering design chefs and vendors to develop new menu concepts and recipes.
- Initiate, plan and conduct menu presentations with caterers for menu redesigns, monthly cycle rotations, new station startups, etc.
- Investigate catering problems and issues.
- Assist with development and implementation of solutions.
- Analyze flight attendant reports and customer feedback regarding products and services to highlight trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage internal menu specifications, onboard menu guides for flight attendants and printed menu materials.
- Liaise with Marketing, Flight Service and Procurement to coordinate introduction of new menu items.
- Monitor competitive landscape to ensure menus remain competitive with other global airlines.
- Interface with all levels of Management within American Airlines and external supplier groups.
- Interface with Employee Involvement Teams and Union Workgroups.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of prior experience managing multi-stakeholders projects
- In-depth knowledge of market/industry trends related to food & beverage.
- High level of initiative and proven experience managing a large workload and changing priorities with limited direction and ease.
- Previous project management work experience with ability to lead, organize and prioritize projects with internal and external teams.
- Highly creative and analytical, with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify and drive creative product and marketing solutions while operating within a budget.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.
- Able to develop and present recommended communication plans and interact effectively with various levels of management.
- Ability to travel to Asia as needed.
- Advanced Powerpoint, Excel and Word required.
- Ability to adapt and understand software and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in culinary-related field or equivalent menu design experience a plus.
