The Compressor Mechanic will be responsible for dismantling, repairing, overhauling, and troubleshooting, maintaining natural gas compressor packages/chillers in the field or workshop. Responsibilities also include installing, commissioning and testing complete screw compressor, reciprocating semi sealed compressor package setups on site.

Compressor Maintenance Service

  • Inspection of compressor on site, produce technical report.
  • Carryout dismantling, replacement of parts, overhauling and assembling the compressor.
  • Run test the compressor in the work shop.
  • Carryout the field installation of compressor and observe the compressor working.

QHSE

  • Contribute to safe systems of work and the development of quality management systems by ensuring all work practices comply with relevant safety standard.
  • Ensure that measures to protect personal safety and well-being are always in place and that personal actions do not jeopardize the safety and well-being of others.
  • Adhere strictly to all safe operating procedures, and safe work instructions- thus preventing potential incidents at all times.
  • Comply with HSE Policy.

  • Punctuality, time management and proper communication with supervisor, team and customers.
  • Compliance to Company policies and procedure.
  • Contribute to the development of a customer focused service and a positive corporate image, including the good working relationship with clients, client representatives.

The Compressor Mechanic will report to the EML Workshop Supervisor however, channels exists for direct communication with the Facilities Engineer and other members at weekly meetings or as and when required. 

To be a successful in this role, you should have a Diploma specialise in mechanical engineering or an ITI certification. Minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in a similar capacity as a Chiller Compressor Mechanic. Previous experience in trouble shooting, overhauling all type of chiller compressors (screw compressor, semi hematic compressor). Read, understand electrical circuit diagram and basic functions of compressor, control power, and control components and troubleshoot. Worked with industry specified tools (handling brazing sets, pressure regulators, Vacuum pump, hand tools  analogue/digital multi-meter and insulation meter. Carried out repair/replace, re-commission activities like, replacement of compressor, overhauling of compressor. and pressure testing. Carried out site inspection of chiller compressors and chilled water pump. Responding to recurring problems and emergency services, as needed. Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily. Basic understanding of functionality of each parts and equipment standard operating values.

Certificate/Basic English level 3 (Read & Write). Basic knowledge of Health and Safety requirements. Good knowledge of chiller compressor overhauling & commissioning (screw compressor & semi hematic compressor). Good knowledge of refrigerant gas, gas charging, gas recovery, system vacuuming method and commissioning.

The Compressor Mechanic will have to be customer focused. It is essential the incumbent should have excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment. Should have a high comfort level working in a diverse environment. Open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done. Strong verbal and writing skills. People management skills & problem solving skills. Excellent supervisory & administrative skills however at the same time hands on with day to day business operations. Good time management skills.
