Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Senior Commercial Analytics Analyst - Research and Development is a subject matter expert in advanced modeling and/or forecasting at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. This role works on exciting projects that push the business forward, creates reporting and analysis, and maintains existing processes. Scope & Complexity As an individual contributor the Senior Commercial Analytics Analyst - Research and Development exercises considerable judgment to tackle complex data analysis problems and projects. This role builds models and forecasts that enable the analytics team to create data driven solutions to business problems. Key Duties - Own development of models and forecasts (for example, the company's revenue forecast or customer segmentation model). - Proactively identify opportunities to improve forecasts, models, and measurement methods in strategic and planning processes. - Take initiative to define and develop KPIs, forecasts, and metrics to guide the business's strategic initiatives. - Develop strong collaborative working relationships across various workgroups (business, operational, technical). - Communicate findings, develop solutions and provide deep insight to stakeholders in a concise and effective manner. - Design and create tools, processes, and analyses that assist the team and stakeholders in executing and measuring strategies on a recurring and ad-hoc basis. - Manipulate a variety of complex and large datasets to draw key findings. - Apply quality control on findings using business knowledge. - Maintain knowledge of all available data sources used in forecasting, modeling, and measurement of company initiatives (e-Comm, customer, flight, etc). - Guide and mentors less senior Analysts to help develop skillset and strengthen the team. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - A minimum of 4 years of experience in advanced modeling, statistics, and optimization techniques including the use of said techniques with very large quantities of data to solve real-world business problems. - Bachelor's degree in business, math, economics, engineering or other fields of a technical nature, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Experience with open-ended and highly leveraged technical projects with hard deadlines. - Tableau (or other similar data visualization software) experience. - Experience using software or tools on large sets of data to model and analyze complex problems. - SQL experience manipulating large data sets. - Outstanding communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and presentation skills. - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and utilizing PowerPoint to present complex ideas to non-technical audiences. Preferred - A minimum of 1 year of airline industry experience - Experience with Alteryx. - Experience in airline revenue management, pricing, customer analytics, and/or demand modeling.
