About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. The Programmer-Analyst/Sr. Programmer-Analysts role is to work closely with project managers, business leaders, and development team members to deliver software solutions for departments within American Airlines. The development team is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and maintaining IT applications, as well as customization and integration of 3rd party software. Key technologies include .NET and SQL Server. The Programmer-Analyst/Sr. Programmer-Analyst will initially be asked to help support legacy systems until they are replaced and also convert older VB6 applications to C#.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Develops, deploys, conducts quality assurance testing, debugs/refactors, and documents technology solutions
  • Supports, maintains, and administers deployed solutions
  • Ensures security of all data and technology solutions
  • Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program using structured analysis and design
  • Reviews, replaces, deletes, or modifies codes to correct errors
  • Analyzes, reviews, and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of Microsoft .NET programming experience
  • 3 years of experience defining user requirements
  • Experience with Visual Studio 2017, C#, VB.net, Visual Basic and MS SQL server
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Proficiency in object-oriented analysis, design techniques, principles, and frameworks
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a keen desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge
  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions and/or workarounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of Microsoft .NET programming experience
  • Airline Industry experience, including business systems and technology
  • Technical skills in web/mobile/application development
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non technical groups
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
