About The Job

This job is a member of the Safety Compliance Team within the Integrated Operations Division. Responsible for supporting American's ORD hub in the pursuit of safety excellence and the prevention of injuries and accidents.  This job will also assist station leadership in cultivating and maintaining a safety culture as established by senior management and determine the most efficient way to enhance Safety communication to both internal and external customers with regard to safety at the station.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Forward-thinking in developing criteria for process improvements in order to reduce injuries and damages
  • Acts as an SME in areas of safety for senior and frontline leadership as well as business partners and frontline employees
  • Achieves aircraft damage reduction goals
  • Conducts/leads or participates in aircraft damage investigations
  • May interfaces with Regulatory Agencies such as OSHA and the FAA
  • Oversees production and/or prepares safety and compliance related communications for local and system distribution
  • Conducts various audits and observations for compliance and effectively present findings
  • Facilitates and/or participates in safety risk management-related processes
  • Conducts management and frontline briefings and presentations
  • Identifies and develops mitigation actions for negative safety trends
  • On call response during off scheduled work hours required, sometimes with short notice
  • Travel/station visits required, sometimes with short notice
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years job related experience
  • Excellent leadership capabilities, previous supervisory/leadership experience
  • In-depth knowledge of airline/airport operations
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead and develop employees
  • Ability to review and analyze corporate policy and procedure and regulatory documentation
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain a professional demeanor in fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
  •  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Aviation Specific Education
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and applications within airline/airport work areas
