The Senior Manager, Enterprise Learning Solutions is a newly created role on the Talent Strategy & People Development team at American Airlines. This leader will serve and lead multiple teams including; Enterprise Learning, Learning Architects, Instructional Design and Creative Development teams. These teams work in close partnership with the People Business Partner team and consult business unit leads to identify, develop, implement and measure learning initiatives that help our leaders and their organizations become more effective and improve business. This position will be responsible for partnering closely with learning leaders of various business functions in support of American's Learning & Development Council to ensure a world-class learning experience for all of our team members. Additionally, they will oversee the teams that manage over 400 annual learning projects to ensure that we deliver a quality and timely product meeting business needs, while focusing on the budget by balancing the delivery between internal/external resources. The job will also own the relationships with external learning vendors (IBM) as well as taking the corporate lead on innovative and leading edge learning methods.
Specifically, you'll do the following:
- Establish strong collaborative working relationships to build trust with business unit teams, to align cross-functional partnerships and support with People Business Partners, Learning teams and other internal subject-matter-experts
- Influence and consult with their business unit teams on learning and development
- Support business unit learning leaders and American’s Training and Development Council to achieve consistency, quality and an industry-leading learning experience for our team members
- Create and maintain a process in partnership with business units for ensuring that all learning programs are summarized and reviewed by the Learning Council with the goal of creating a more consistent learning agenda with aligned company strategy elements and messages
- Establish and sustain the team charter, team and individual goals, team members’ roles and responsibilities, measurement of progress and success
- Lead, coach and mentor a team of professionals so they achieve their goals and business results
- Identify, track and analyze metrics to measure organizational effectiveness solutions for their business unit teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- 7 years of experience in training arena applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies
- 3 years of experience managing a team
- History of demonstrating the Leadership Attributes (Caring, Collaboration, Development, Results and Future)
- Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning methodology
- Ability to display a commitment to continuous improvement of learning processes, quality and skills
- Ability to establish relationships with leaders at all levels of the organization and maintain key relationships/partnerships throughout the organization
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
- Experience in leading and managing teams with complex portfolios
- Demonstrated strategic and systems-thinking ability

- Outstanding consulting skills: conduct needs-analysis, quickly grasp the nature of business unit’s system, identify and analyze complex problems, creatively solve problems, guide business leader to decisions and solutions, provide business leader with developmental and confidential feedback
- Exceptional ability to build, develop, and maintain key relationships/partnerships and diplomacy with all levels of the organization, especially senior leadership
- Excellent inter-personal communication skills with focus on caring and collaboration
- Comfortable in presenting ideas in clear, succinct, and easy-to-understand language, and effectively facilitate small and large group meetings and discussions
- Strong project management skills: ability to take the initiative anticipating and handling problems or incidents before they become major issues; manage multiple, large scale projects with competing deadlines; handle multiple tasks and demands in a fast-paced work environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant field
- Project management experience working with multiple stakeholders

- At least 2 years of experience in the airline industry with fundamental understanding of operations
- Experience managing 3rd party vendor partnerships
- Experience managing managers and their teams
- Relevant learning experience using innovative methodologies
- Minimum 5-7 years of managing large scale projects or people
- Experienced in strategic consulting, facilitating and presenting to groups and leaders at all organizational levels
- Worked in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, development-focused environment
- Track record of achieving transformational results in a large organizational setting, preferably supporting decentralized/federated work groups
- Global experience preferred
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
