About The Job

The Data Center Administrator will be part of the data center team responsible for physical security, maintenance and construction of the enterprise data center lower environments. As part of the data center team, they will assist the service delivery of data center resources and system components deployed by IT teams, as well as the maintenance of the data center electrical power systems.

 

Specifically, you'll do the following:

  • Rack, stack and run cables for new infrastructure per data center standards
  • Decommission old infrastructure
  • Maintain data center inventories, equipment orders, returns and shipments
  • Assist with supervision of all visitor activities in the data centers, ensuring that all work is performed according to established practices and procedures including both routine and emergency service on critical systems, including but not limited to medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, computer room cooling systems, fire suppression and smoke alarm systems
  • Assist with maintenance of process documents and standard operating procedure guidelines for all data center related processes
  • Maintain various data center drawings (Visio, CAD, DCIM)
  • Utilize best practices for standard implementations and repeatable processes to deliver utility grade operational and data center services
  • Assist with on-call support for PHX Data Center

  • Maintain Data Center access and systems as needed
  • Utilize critical infrastructure monitoring systems
  • Troubleshoot and communicate status of incidents or issues in multiple data centers
  • Assist with camera security within and around data center facilities
  • Work hand in hand with project managers, engineers, administrators and customers to deliver projects on time
  • Assist with development of documentation for operational policies and procedures for the data centers
  • Proactively and promptly identify and assist to resolve any relevant key issues and/or risks
  • Support an environment of sharing and teamwork on the data center team
  • Explore and stay abreast of new technologies that can bring value to the organization
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technical or equivalent experience/training
  • 5+ years experience system engineering and IT support
  • 5+ years experience in data center build-out including requirements determination, asset inventory, power requirements, inter-dependency mapping, port mapping, wire-management, documentation and troubleshooting
  • Experience with data center management, including design, infrastructure (hardware, software and telecommunications), maintenance and operations
  • Ability to respond to data center problems resulting from catastrophic events, incident response and power outages and assist with the execution of the disaster recovery plan when a business or IT operations disruption occurs
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure and operations
  • Experience with maintaining data center electrical systems, including distribution, back-up systems, grounding preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of large-scale facility electrical infrastructure systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work with outside contractors and outside agencies to coordinate critical project work within regulatory requirements
  • Ability to support server and networking equipment topology a plus
  • Proficient with tools such as Microsoft Office, Visio, CAD; DCIM tools a plus
  • Working knowledge of hardware performance trouble shooting and technologies
  • Familiarity with Security Principles and methods
  • Provide excellent teamwork, customer service, communication, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of team members within the organization
  • Airline experience preferred
  • Willingness to support 24x7 on-call support processes
