Job Title:             Head of Automotive Strategy and Transformation

Reports to:         President, Al-Futtaim Automotive

Direct Reports: 1 - 2

Job Description:

  • The role drives the formulation, planning and implementation of Al-Futtaim’s automotive strategy in the core market of the UAE and globally.
  • The role holder helps set, capture and track the imperatives that determine the Automotive President and division’s strategic agenda.
  • The role holder oversees the delivery of the Automotive division’s transformation programmes and project management in full alignment with the Automotive President’s office and the Group Transformation Management Office (TMO).
  • The role holder will report to the Automotive President and will have a matrix reporting line to the Group’s Chief Transformation Officer. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Automotive Strategy

 

  • Drive the formulation of the Automotive strategy in the UAE and globally in collaboration with the Automotive Leadership Team.
  • Track and measure the execution of the Automotive strategy and its implementation across the division in collaboration with Automotive managing directors and TMO/PMO. 
  • Help conduct business planning and set the President’s strategic agenda including aligning senior executives in the Automotive division and at Group level.
  • Work with senior leaders in the Automotive division and at Group level to identify new business opportunities, both domestically and globally, as part of the Automotive strategy formulation.

 

Automotive Transformation

 

  • Build overall Automotive division’s transformation plan and shape transformation agenda.
  • Set the Automotive transformation agenda of top priority transformation imperatives which must be achieved.
  • Apply transformation and project management practices consistently and by using Group TMO’s transformation and project management methodology. 
  • Ensure correct implementation of transformation and optimization plans across various programs.
  • Assist the Automotive President in managing transformation managers/leaders including how to structure methods and resolve emerging issues.
  • Develop detailed timelines including milestones, dependencies, team organization and budgets for transformation projects.
  • Interface between Automotive President, Automotive division leadership, the Group CTO and transformation managers/leads.
  • Develop relevant change management plans in collaboration with Automotive leadership team.
  • Drive learnings, workshops and meetings with initiative teams and support the Automotive President in aligning senior executives in the Automotive division and at Group level.

 

Automotive PMO

  • Work with Group TMO’s project management office (PMO) to track the execution and delivery of all Automotive programs and projects, including:
  • Business excellence
  • Process improvement
  • Improving revenue streams
  • Efficiency
  • Productivity
  • Effectiveness & ROI

 

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

 

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

A business or technical university degree is preferred.

  • Exert knowledge and experience in strategy, transformation, and project management.
  • Experience and expertise in the Automotive field is preferred with knowledge of complete Auto business model and value chain.
  • Commercial acumen, clear strategic thinking and ability to create buy-in and influence at a senior level.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years overall experience in transformation and/or project management, preferably in relation to the Automotive industry.
  • The candidate should have experience managing teams, both through direct line management and in a matrix set up.  
  • The preferred candidate must demonstrate exemplary project management, communication and organizational skills with proven completion of mid to large scale projects.
