The Global Communications internship is a developmental role that provides interns with real-time work projects, independent assignments and accountability, as well as an opportunity to learn about media relations, crisis communications, external affairs, our company and the airline industry.

 

The Global Communications intern will support American’s communications team at the company’s Fort Worth headquarters. The position is part-time for eight weeks over the fall and winter. The intern will support our team by:

  • Drafting briefing documents, press releases, fact sheets and statements
  • Helping conduct media outreach and pitch coverage opportunities
  • Assisting in putting together various company/executive presentations
  • Identifying proactive opportunities for deploying creative communications strategies
  • Compiling media coverage recaps
Job Qualifications

An ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in communications or public relations
  • Aviation interest a plus
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment and juggle multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work under pressure and display flexibility and creativity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent research skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
